Does anyone know another way to connect to the DAC:

I was doing something like the above on a vps a long time ago, I was hoping there was something I could use on a shared server just to let me run a few queries.

Not sure that fsocketopen is the best thing to try on a shared

you may find that the server firewall will not let you through as it is not a standard control panel port or popular service port and therefore may be closed by default.

No real reason you shouldn't fsockopen on your server unless you don't trust your host, in which case, time to move anyway.

The alternative would be to run an http based DAC proxy on your other VPS and make a simple CURL http request so you can get through the server firewall.
