Regardless of our personal feelings about the recent direct.uk consultation and other things going on in the .uk space, I hope that we are all in favour of good quality registrant data to assist in our collective domaining activities.

Therefore you may be interested to note that Nominet are aiming to improve this through a Data Quality Window later this year, which I noticed while browsing the Nominet website for other reasons.

The initiative is described at http://registrars.nominet.org.uk/re...anagement/data-quality/registrant-data-update and Nominet's general approach to data quality is described at http://registrars.nominet.org.uk/registration-and-domain-management/data-quality

I have certainly struggled to ensure that my own (big-name) registrar records me correctly as a sole trader, so I can well imagine that many of us suffer from a range of anomalies, gaps and errors in our current data coverage. Since it seems likely that Nominet will increasingly focus on validation of registrant data, this feels like a useful gentle prod to enable us to be on the front foot.

They have been doing a lot more around this in the last few months and opened a "window" for the data quality tweaks a few months back
