I think its been hacked!
lets hope google dont pay a visit!
as it will update with all that text
I'm off to do a forum backup!
Just had a look on archive.org, looks like there was a busy forum once, but nothing since feb 04
It seems this guy has been attacking alot of hosting/domain forums
Like you say, well worth a backup
I have backed up the DB from the PHPBB Admin options,
I assume that is enough to restore the Forum from should I need to?
Do us all a favour and migrate to VBulletin PLEASE. It's significantly better and if you do it whilst the forum is relatively small, the job will probably be easier.
Could you summarise the benefits of VB over PHPBB for me please?
It would have to be good for us to spend $160 to get it.
Having used both, VBulletin is nicer to work with from a user perspective and it's also got better admin options. It has more features, cleaner code and more mods. I also prefer the user interface. If you're not a member of the two main domain name discussion forums that use it (dnforum and domainstate) then it's worth trying those out. I cannot really explain it any further than suggesting you try it. I run a small, private forum elsewhere and I even stumped up the money for a lifetime licence rather than install phpBB or Invision. Most of the major forums on the net use it. Since it's licenced rather than free, bugs are usually fixed within days.
Believe me, it's a nicer and much more usable forum interface than phpBB.
http://www.vbulletin.com/admindemo.php - try this out.
I'll donate 50% of the lifetime licence.
For instance, I actually prefer the "soft" look and simplicity of phpbb.
Is phpbb considered more hackable than vbulletin?
phpBB has had a recent critical flaw which gave admin rights to anyone... and the ability to redirect anywhere or delete/modify anything.
anyone with phpBB should patch this over....
I've tried a load of forums and ended up running everything on Simple Machines SMF. It's very fast, flexible and I understand how the code works.
But it's really just down to what you like.
Here's an example of a medium size forum
Nice FC - not seen that one before.
Have applied patch to v13, thanks Tifosi.
Have looked at vBulletin and most of the large forums are using it. Just need to research a DB import tool and see how it would effect DomainPrices.co.uk integration.
VB seems to have good member management built in including a subscription module
Having installed and moderated both I can honestly say that VBulletin is deffinatley the better of the two.. i guess you get what you pay for.
That said i dont have a problem with phpbb at all.
@ admin there is a portal tool for VBulletin that would do the same job as your current portal script.. think its called vbportal.
i use vBulletin on DNuk.co.uk. It is far better than phpBB over performace, security and seting etc.
If you decide to go for vBulletin, I'll donate the other 50% for the licence.
well done keys 8)
i never fail to be impressed with some board members
Well how can we refuse when our members are offering to pay!
Is there any prefered theme that you would like us to use?
We will get it done asap
vBulletin License Order complete
Why doesn't VB have more skins?
PhpBB has tons!
(SubSilver's fine btw)
