All the prices are on the respective sites :)

I have only had 1 success with dropcatcher, out of 40 or so bookings, I keep the credits there just as an addon, had 0 catches with namewarden its a joke.

Caught, have caught me maybe 150 out of 400ish, once I gave up booking tagnames, chris's own names, LLLs, prime 1 worders (do sometimes give in to temptation) and the other usuals who never drop names, the rate has gone up.

    So 30% say, catch rate.

DropSystem, clearing out my gambles I'd guess 20% catch rate, and alot of the time I book only with caught coz the lookup and booking is easier, just saw 1080 was caught by dropsys which I had booked on Caught but never got around to booking on dropsys, looks like I should have :p

Dragon has caught 60-70% of the names I booked with him, but only booked 5/6 names, Rob_F, caught the only name I tried to book with him about an hour before I tried to book it coz I didnt check the whois again, i just went off dropcatcher saying suspended (I realised it wasnt updated live then). The other people I have booked and caught with prefer to remain anon (but catch rate out of 20-30 names is 50-60%).

Isn't it hard to compare catchers? Surely it depends on the quality/popularity of the domains being booked? I could have a 1 in 30 catch rate but maybe only going for prime domains compared to 20 in 30 rate going for crap.

Then again I suppose if you booked it you want it and thats all that matters.

Absolutely. Success rate with DropSystem is ~9%, but would say bookings are for moderate to highly contended domains.

The new polling system should be interesting, although I would have liked to see the ability to outbid someone who had only booked 3 polling's with perhaps my desired 10. In essence the booking slot going to the highest bidder, rather than who got in and booked first.

I have just put down between 3-6k worth of bookings using the frequency settings on drop system.

I would like another option to the frequency thing, I'd like the option of 'random' and 'sequential' booking, I mean lets say you had frequency 5, and there are 20 names booked, with 25% using frequencys 1-5, you would end up with

Which would only give you 5 look ups every few seconds but I'll report back in the next 30 days on how it goes, prob sooner as I'm still booking names :)

Simon and I are taking all of this on board. When you get to the point of ~9%-22% success rates on the *public* system, it makes the £300/month deal for your *own* system a bit more feasible. You can tweak your own system as much as you like and unlike other "new" systems I've heard about recently, you can prioritise your catch lists in a billion ways instead of two. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ;)

Happy to have a face-off at any time. 24 hours won't get you a realistic result though. I think people have already given up some figures here thanks Edwin) that speak for themselves. I wouldn't want to put my clients on hold while I spend time competing in a pissing match.

Here's my contribution... Since I'm the only one who can release the information, here's the full list of everything that DropSystem has caught for me to date. Admittedly, there are a couple of accidental typos (my fault, of course) and a few specific ones that nobody else would probably have wanted anyway, but on the whole it's a very good mix.

I've removed the extensions so that they don't get spidered, but they're all .co.uk except for "cheapest" and "genki" (as I said, some are specific to me).

I think the bottom line is Public Catchers have 'little' chance of getting the top generics, the commerce, flyers, etc and the LLLs of the world, everything else is fair game.

The question is given that there are 1,000 potential opportunies in every second of the day, and its pop luck, why would you NOT book with everyone ?

Has anyone known any of the public catchers in the last year catching an LLL.co.uk ? I've never seen it.

Skinner, "why would you NOT book with everyone?"

    So true. In fact it's a no-brainer.

I'll check but I'm sure we've caught LLLs on the public system - plenty on the hosted; even a 2-char.co.uk.

Edit: No LLLs on the public system, but several with hosted accounts.

I'm not convinced that many of edwins would of been competitively tried for (no offence) if you wanted to compare services you would have to go for domains you know many would also be trying for?

I have just seen the First LLL catch on a public system, DropSystem got it before lunch as best I can tell :)

Whether this was using the Dac Frequency or not, I don't know but its the first LLL I have seen in 9 months goto a public facer.

Least that I have seen on the public face before its been transferred and the whois changed.

Congrats to whoever broke the duck as it were :)

I'm happy, not bad for £30 (one frequency slot).
