    Those were the days!

    Great name!
    I used to own a MK1 1300 sport. Couldn't afford an RS2000 :(

But I sold it and bought a Dolomite Sprint :-D

    Now I drive a Passat estate :(

I used to be an avid rally fan in the days of the Group A cars. (Audi Quattro short wheel base, metro 6R4's, Renault Turbo 5's etc.) You couldn't beat being in the middle of a forrest, 6ft away from the cars as they trundled past at 120mph and left behind them the sweet smell of Castrol.

These cars were whapping out over 400 bhp. (20 years ago!)

Then someone had a severe "off" I think it was in Sardinia and the car ploughed into a pile of spectators (who were on the apex of a bend ) and 3 died. After this they restricted them.

They used to be only 0.4 of a second slower 0-60 than a formula1 car!

I can remember those Metro's they were absolutely mental. My favorite Ford Escort was the "Mexico".

Mental is the word. All group A supercars were absolutely bonkers and it was very sad to see them being restricted.

If you like your cars, this is a must see.

The following is a small clip from a Metro 6R4 that has been restricted. It is a group B.
2.4 litre engine and 304 bhp
It now only does 0-100 mph in 4.2 seconds on a forrest track

Before they were restricted they used to be up to 3.8 litre with a blistering 460 bhp and 0-100 in 3.6 seconds on a forrest track

    STRAP YOURSELF IN!

    ...........................

fordescort.co.uk Major TM issues DB. But I would like to put up a couple of photos before they come knocking. £50

I don't know. All I know is Ford built the Ford Escort so I would presume they will have rights to the name but I could be wrong.

    Anyway, the offer still stands

Doubt they will ever make an escort again or a sierra, capri, cortina or even an Anglia. And Cosworth only in your dreams.

That cortina in life on mars was pukka :-D

I trundled round in an Escort Cossie a few years ago, but I am from Essex so its pretty much the law there.

I do wish Id kept it, 15 year old models still reach 12k+ and always will.

I used to own a "89" Mecury grey RS Turbo, had it running loads of boost and upgraded turbo and intercooler.

Also a guy I know very well who owns a mushroom farm bought 2 brand new escort cossies, ecactly the same from ford - even reg plate was exact aprt from one number on the plates.

Both cars have only done about 10,000 miles and they are fucking well nice.

He wants £21,000 each for them.

I would actuly love a escort cossie, i think I might get one later this year.

    :)

from what i can gather you can do a fan site and be 100% safe, as long as you dont have any adsense, affilaites on the site (basicly as long as the site is a fan site and does not apear to generate revenue) although you could add a paid members section or something...

    no probs.

you could also set up a newsletter and put affiliates in that, you could charge people to have links placed on the site.

although to be honest if your not making a fortune from the site, then i think you can argue the money is to pay for hosting, site design and maintenance. Otherwise fan sites would never last long (esp if they get very popular)

Thanks mate, thats givern me some good ideas. Although from what Admin was saying hosting costs and looking after a forum are pretty time consuming. And my habit is domain acquastion not forum development, so I could really do with selling it..

Had 2-3 PMs asking price but I am thinking ebay listed under ford escorts - or RS owners club might get a better price from them.

I know this is a sales thread but what do people think price wise?

    Thanks guys great thread...

Hate to be a pedant but they were Group B cars. The most succesful of which was the Lancia Delta S4. The S4 had about 600bhp (supercharged and turbocharged) near the end of the class and Ford had a 750bhp RS200 ready to go - it later went into RallyCross.

The Group A equivalent was the Lancia Delta Integrale (one of which I later owned) and the Mits Evos, Subarus, etc.
