Freelancing...

I've been headhunted - sort of - to do some freelancing web development work for a local media agency which specialises in branding & seo work.

They's asked for work examples & rates. The former I can provide easy enough, the later I'm not sure.

Don't want to undersell myself & don't want to put them off. Any ideas on general freelancing rates for developers? Generally php/mysql, wordpress/cms, general website stuff. Not top end graphic design but good general typography, layout html/css, jquery.

You don't have to put figures here but a pm with the ball-park figures would be ok. You never know if what they're asking isn't my bag e.g. .net or c# then I may be able to pass details on.

Links to some freelancing sites that have this kind of info would be good.

good to see your in demand....to add my 2 cents worth I would try to ensure that you concentrate on providing your portfolio then pick up from what they actually say to you...

so leave the ball in their court if i was you...see what they want from you...but have a general rate in your mind...from which you can always negotiate..

additional to that i would create a sample list attached to your work...as everything will have a seperate charge to it depending on the time it takes you I would highlight that....

Agencies do not like hourly or day rates, rather fixed rates...so stick to these I would say.
