Anyone has a Chromebox? Any good?
Girlfriend is in the UK next week so tempted to order one.
Any good, for what exactly? I've not used a Chromebox but I do own one of the earlier Chromebooks and I like it because of its great battery life, integration with Google Apps and Chrome plugin support, almost instant on, because it's cheap (I wouldn't be so bothered if it got stolen) and because it's secure. It serves a portability purpose for when I'd want to do more with a keyboard than I'd prefer to do on an iPad.
Any good as in.. Can it replace a Windows desktop?
No. It won't run Windows applications.
I meant the functionalities.. Can Google Docs replace Word, Excel etc..
Anyone can try google docs free. Just get a @gmail.com account. It could replace Microsoft Office if one only required the features that google docs/drive include within their online apps. By no means are they as comprehensive as standalone Microsoft Office's apps. I'm not trying to be difficult but I don't know what features you or she might want from an office suite. Google Docs is sufficient for me when I do anything relatively basic. I write letters with it and make tables of figures with basic formulae. However an Internet connection is required most of the time although there is also some offline functionality.
You need to try chrome and google docs to see if you think she might find it sufficient. Chromebooks and boxes are for those that already know these services will be sufficient.
Just ordered one, looking forward to working in the cloud.
