It might only affect people with Microsoft type domains in the gTLDs. I don't have a lot of respect for Microsoft's expertise with ccTLDs but since .uk is one of the bigger ccTLDs, it might be a good thing to examine portfolios. The legislation they are using is US specific anti-cybersquatting legislation.
