    Hey

Just started investing in domains yesterday and have about 5 now. Hoping to get more but it feels like every word in the English dictionary is already taken. If I could have started this before I turned 18, 2001 would have been the perfect starting year for me.

    Best Domain???? CompareReview.co.uk
    Worst...... MoneyRoutes or Route .cn

Haven't got much to choose from yet anyways.

Welcome Niles, we could all have done with being busier in the late 90's, almost all decent words are gone but new technology means new domains, also there are still domain owners who would sell at a decent price and you could improve your portfolio that way.

    Hi Nils
Think like a buyer, not a seller of domain names. If you were looking for a product or service, what words would you use to find it? Try to specialise in a market niche. Research each name or phrase carefully. Have any of the existing players in that market missed an obvious name or phrase. Is anyone (at all!) searching for that name or phrase? An absence of google ads next to a search phrase tells you a lot about it...

Read up on share investing, there are parallels with domain investing. For example spreading the risk between investing in different sectors. For example this months high flyer may be gambling, next month it may be energy conservation. Don't put all your money into one sector. Allow the gains in one sector to outweigh the losses in others. Above all, only invest in what you understand, and only invest as much as you are happy to loose.

Have fun. A few people may sell domains in the £££££, but if you can buy at £6 and sell at £25 you will be just about covering costs...

Thanks a lot for the advice! I am also currently stock trading and spread betting. Been doing that since I turned 18, but started Domain trading a couple of days ago as the whole stock market as a whole is not exactly doing well at the moment.

Yes, you right they are similar.
