Does anyone know how Nominet validate name and addresses?

Reason I ask, is a domain I'm after has an incorrect name attached to it, instead it has the name of a dissolved company.

    Here's what I get:

    Domain name:
The name I would like .co.uk

    Registrant:
A made up business name, that is 2 words

    Registrant type:
    UK Individual

    Registrant's address:
A real address, in the UK

    Data validation:
Registrant name and address awaiting validation

    Registrar:
    Webfusion Ltd t/a 123-reg [Tag = 123-REG]
    URL: http://www.123-reg.co.uk

How long does it take for Nominet to check these? and is there anything they would do if they can't validate it?

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure there's a table somewhere that shows what sources they use to try and validate the data, can't find it though.

Not sure how long it takes them to get to it but if they can't validate it the registrant is emailed and told to sort it. If it's not sorted in 30 days it gets suspended and then drops 30 days later.

This however is registered to a dissolved company so that may be treated in the usual manner - after being informed, Nominet suspend it for 30 days and it drops.

Guess work I think, just had a reply from Nominet (whilst helping a customer) saying that the domain name had no email associated with it which was why the customer couldn't login via the on-line services. I did query why it could have no email address, but got the usual flannel in the response.

Thanks for that Grant. That's a great help.

I'll drop Nominet an email and see what happens.

As they are an individual then they could be a sole trader and therefore the company name that you've found, I assume a limited company, is a red herring.
