    Hi All.......

Just wanted to know your thoughts on hyphenated domains, i'm going after a .com with an "exact" local monthly search of 165,000 with high ad competition.

its a generic term but the un-hyphenated version is built out and very successful in its field.

    any thoughts gratefully received.

    thanks

    Paul

Well I have 6 sites at the top of Google, 4 of them are hyphenated, so for me this isn't an issue. If you were depending on people typing in the address then it may cause some small drop in visitors, but to get up the serps it's fine.

Theres nothing wrong with hyphenated domains bar the fact that they are only worth 10 to 15% resale value of the unhyphenated version and unless your trying to build a business around one .
Holding them can prove uncomfortable because of the limited resale value.
