Don't have any recommendations myself, but I suggest searching at:

    http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/

as mobile phone insurance gets discussed there, plus check moneysavingexpert.com.

The 'incase' slider is the best unobtrusive protection. Also, your operator may be cheapest for the insurance.

Check your current account with your bank a lot of them provide free mobile phone insurance aswell as travel insurance and breakdown cover.

I know with NatWest if you have a gold advantage account you get free mobile phone insurance up to £500.

I've got a bank account with lloyds bank where I pay an additional £15 a month for AA cover, mobile phone insurance x 3 and travel insurance.

That might be the best option if you've got a couple of phones, a car and go away on holidays abroad :)

There's also http://www.instantcover.co.uk/iphone-insurance/ where is says cover for 3gs about £70.

Instantcover is a site I bought a while back, so I can't recommend the product, but seems to match what your after
