So the short term plan is to test the water with .wales with this new Nominet NRS Limited malarkey.

    http://www.nominet.org.uk/news/latest/update-nominet-registrar-services

Then at some point in the future bring all .uk domains and management services into a separate company (NRS Limited or something similar) and then you have effectively separated the two companies so Nominet (classic) can go and do its blue sky stuff with blowing buckets of cash while poor little Nominet .UK whatever Ltd with its 10million domains is drip fed cash and moved out to some backwater - and funnily enough will be in a position to acquired by an enormous third party like GoDaddy down the line and guess whats coming sweethearts.. they'll be rubbing their hands with glee at them lowly renewal fees. Perhaps I'm just being cynical?

You do realise that link you posted is from 2014 (Last year)?

And the .wales have already been launched.

As you may now be aware, from reading the July communique, NRS will be exiting the Welsh gTLD market. The company doesn't sell anything else and isn't an accredited registrar for any other gTLD or ccTLD. How does that affect your opinions as expressed above? :)
