    Sold to me.

Risky play with the hyphen? Value for money? Waste of money? Time will tell :p Already ranking 17th in Google for "payday loans".

yep, as your say time will tell, get in the top and you'll be laughing. May also help with google adwords due to the name having the best keywords

I doubt we'll be doing much/any ppc. The domain sold for 1300 (can't remember if it was dollars/pounds though!) about a year ago. Not that it matters to me, but at least 1 person made a pretty nice return from it since then...

I think ranked page 1 it's going to be an obvious win on the ROI, we'll see how it goes.

It ranks N17 because it has a lot of links not because of the domain.

    £15-40

Sure, I understand having the hyphen takes away any exact match benefit. Going forward though, it is still a help in influencing anchor text when people link to it which is going to have a direct effect on the rankings.

    Fabulous buy !

To be honest I think you got it for a bargain price with the ranking in consideration.

Good luck with it, and I think impossible NOT to make a ROI over the longer term :)

it's worth it as long as you're in that business already and making thousands a month.

    Nice sale/ purchase.

But I must say it needs a better website, are you planning to develop it further?

    We sold it

Johnny got a good deal....he hassled me on the day after we had decided to dump some of our sites and domains:)

Lots of backlinks so it should just need a little push.......I would think the top 5 slots may be a bit aggressive though.

So lots of our stuff is for sale now......

    Thanks, I hope so!

I'm not in that business at all right now.

Hehe definitely, working on something perhaps a little controversial right now. What is there now has helped it age/rank and got me interested in buying in the first place. I often wonder why a lot more people aren't putting little sites on valuable domains to get the clock ticking with Google...

Can tell you've got more money than me - I cleared out some of my lower end domains too and bought some better ones - including one of your clearout ones, haha.

Wonga.com got dropped from the top 10, perhaps for being a bit too aggressive. They then reappeared at 3rd, moved to 2nd and are still there. I wonder if they'll get their old spot back.

Top 5 is definitely the goal here, hard to put a timeline on it but I'm going to make a guess of page 1 by November 1st, 5th by Feb 1st, top 3 by May 1st, then position 1 by December 1st next year. Lets see how close I am :D Depending on how Wonga play their cards they might become uncatchable, in that case I want to be 2nd.

Haha, a bit too steep for me!

On the topic of payday loans, got a friend wanting to shift paydayloan.org.uk - If anyones interested, let me know. He bought it for £3500 recently, only looking to recoup that... Good search volume even for the singular term. Too hard for me to rank 2 competing domains so I passed on it myself.
