Does anyone have experience with using the postcode systems in sites i.e. autotrader where it recognises your postcode and then knows the relationships better them, i.e. neighbouring postcodes and distances.

How do you get this info? Does it have a name?

    Thanks.

Postcodeanywhere goes in the checkout, you type in your postcode and it brings up all house numbers and street names in that postcode, the customer clicks on their address and it fills in the remaining boxes.

From how I read it, Ratboy wants a script that will tell you the distance from your postcode to another, like Autotrader as an example, you search for a car and it tells you the distance to it.

Cheers guys, that has helped, sometime finding stuff without the right terminology is a pain.

    Found this:
    PHP postcode distance calculation script

It is to go on a used-cars site to allow searching within distances. Think this will do the trick.

    Thanks for the help! :p

Your looking for Pythagorus, you convert the postcode to Long/Lat Co-Ords then apply pythagorus theorum to get the distance.

It makes my head hurt even thinking about it :p
