Aside from listing domains on ebay / sedo. Does anyone have any tips on selling to end users?

Listing domains on forums while good for selling to resellers at wholesale rates (i have sold a few names like this).

BUT i am looking for some new places / ideas for selling domains to the end user.

    Thanks in advance.

First of all, get your domain names listed or advertised in as many places as possible, the more people who see them the greater your chances of making sales. Make sure all your domain names have a page indicating the domain is for sale and provide reliable contact info so people can reach you.

Taking a more direct approach has yielded results for me in the past. Contact companies and individuals with similiar names, or who are in a suitable business/market to use one of your domains and you may get some offers. But you need to be polite and not do impersonal mailings or you may annoy lots of potential customers! Make a list of people who have registered or purchased similiar names and ask them to make you an offer.

You can also try googling for websites which might benefit from one of your domain names. It's surprising how many websites have very bad domains or no domains at all. But you need to dig deep to find these types of sites.

When contacting people be careful not to price yourself out of a sale by suggesting a high price. It's often better to get them to suggest an offer price and then negotiate with them. Think about how much you want to sell your domains before you contact people, and decide how low you're prepared to go.

Don't forget forums and newsgroups such as this one! People who are investors in domain names or speculators are most likely to be interested in buying domains to add to their porfolio.

Thinking outside the box, drive round the M25 and see how many vans go by with naff domain names plastered down the side, note their email addresses and send them a message offering a decent name. With the speed of the traffic lately you can sit there with a pen and paper :)

If a Company has bothered to pay out to have their website on their vehicles they may be willing to pay for a decent name to advertise.
