Landmark 10 millionth .uk site registered with Nominet
A tiny bit of history in the making. We own 0.07% of them. Great stuff
Glad to see that the article managed to mention cyber squatters in a headline. Journalists never miss an opportunity.
but it's a typo of suave. Or am I not down with popular phrases?
To paraphrase: "The idiots will always be with us". It's a handy "shock, horror, outrage" button for the media to push, so it's sadly not too surprising that they keep conveniently mis-defining cybersquatting...
In the "olden days" they would have printed their own commentary alongside the quote, and used it merely as "colour" for the article. Nowadays though "opinions = news = 'fact'".
Interesting the 10 millionth, The media harks on cyber squatting, sharks, extortionist etc they don’t hark on about the 9 odd million that are absolutely crap registration (nominet really should impose some sort of idiot test when letting people register names or drug or alcohol testing ) Its fine to register Iwanttobuyredplateintipperary.whatever but register something useful or you could actually sell you’re scum of the earth lol
As well as the "ten millionth" aspect, there are a number of other interesting articles/statistics at the underlying Nominet website page http://db.nominet.org.uk/
