Anyone heard any news about registration volumes since the emails started going out?
I doubt it will have made too much difference because registrars sent out emails originally going back to "pre-order you .uk today!", even if nominet didn't
I've analysed registration trends in .uk from the 10th of June launch through to yesterday.
Hope this proves of interest.
Cheers Edwin interesting reading shame Nominet are not as proactive
Why Nom don't spend some of the spare millions they've got kicking around on pushing .uk is beyond me.
P.S. Thanks from me too, Edwin.
Thanks - welcome back.
Interesting reading. The emails from Nominet appear to be making zero difference, as expected.
For me it's because of public confusion. You need a groundswell of support to justify it - and there isn't any.
I think it would be sensible to take a close look at other fairly sizeable ccTLDs that have opened their second levels in fairly recent times. Off the top of my head there's Mexico. Any others anyone's aware of that we can also take a look at?
BBC are still going through their application for a closed gTLD and I wouldn't expect them to switch to their 2LD in dot UK until that process it completed and they decide what they're going to do overall.
