I've spotted a decent domain name the .co.uk , .org.uk ,.com have all gone .

Can a .net rank along side a .co.uk , if you use a uk server and let google know this site is intended for the uk ? Do yahoo offer a similar option ?

Has anyone else had experience / problems in ranking a . Net in the uk , all words of wisdom gratefully received :)

I've got a few .net's focused on the UK market that rank perfectly well.

Google seems to insist it give no preference to any tld but doing as you say and letting them know via webmaster tools is always a good idea.

I wouldn't think twice about using a .net at all, I think it's just a simple case of which ever site is best with all elements considered wins these races.

    No idea about Yahoo

I would say you'll be fine with a .net, if you have a UK server and tell Google it's UK through webmaster tools.

The extension is only a small factor, the main factor is how many decent links you have in to the site.
