I have a wordpress blog on one of my sites but concerned for duplicate content.

The same blog post is currently shown under:

    Frontpage
    Blog Category
    Blog Post URL
    Archives

Any advice on this ie using no follows and robots?

    Thanks, Darren.

you could use the all in one seo plugin to no-index stuff like archives. not sure how important this is I'm sure Big G have written stuff into there algo's to factor in stuff like this on wordpress installs and not apply the usual penalties

    Canonicalization

Google recommends not to block access via robots to duplicate content. Instead, define which is the canonical (preferred) version of the content.

    rel="canonical"

This page explains more and as a bonus feature comes with a free 20 minute Matt Cutts video.*

    Expanded upon here too:

    * I believe the video was made from the premises of Matt Cutts' palacial mansion he has discreetly purchased for himself from secretly ranking himself (so to speak) No.1 for some lucrative search terms.

Dont use the all in one - use Joast's SEO plugin (google it) lets you set the rel canonical etc.

Actually it CAN be a big issue, especially if its a lot of thin content

Why hasn't this user been deleted yet?

Worthless posts since they arrived, no doubt we will see a few links when they hit the signature threshold.

    Wordpress dup content mitigation

Many themes use an excerpt field.

The excerpt field can then be used in category pages instead of an auto generated excerpt plucked from the first part of your blog post.

If you write an except of up to 50 words using slightly different language then you will get some variety between your archive / category pages and the page with the full posting on and your homepage.

You can also use custom fields to ...for example.... have different wording in your description tag, archive pages (using the archive template) or category pages

Sorry, didn't read the post from Sussexite which basically explain the same as me:

I guess you need to go to the file archive.php, located in wp-content/themes/your-theme/ and find the place where they written "the_content".

Change it to "the_excerpt" you only get the excerpt of the post. And you can put in the read more tag on your posts to cut them off. Hope this works. Good luck ;)
