It has been announced this week that XL has gone into administration.

In this situation what happens to their domain (XL.com)?

    Two things:

    1) It'll go to the receivers who will sell it to recoup some money
    2) It's already been sold to one of their subsidiaries (which is possible)

When MVC went bust their domain expired and dropped, I remember watching it to see what would happen.

I watched the video on sky news of the XL director, poor guy was very close to tears.

Yeah poor guy who kept taking poor customers money right up to midnight last night.
Poor guy who still has my money! Thankfully i paid on my CC but still it's they saw it coming but carried on taking bookings.

The poor guy should be prosecuted IMO.

With regard to XL.com I think it will be sold to their French and German part of the company which apparently is still in operation.

I know that feeling, when i was about 11 I saved up all my pocket money to buy the complete Manchester United Grey away kit, the very same week they retired the kit because they said it was unlucky and hard to see or something. :(

I can't speak for his personal situation, or that of his business. However, some Directors tend to have a highly misguided idea of what being a Director is actually about. Sometimes doing what is best for a company long term means rattling cages and kicking arse.
The end customer should always be top priority for any business, not the careers or cushy number interests of any staff. No one want's to hear the excuses of Directors who have not delivered, especially when customers are seriously let down!

West ham can't chang the sponsor even if the money is not paid, they are simply a creditor to the business and the administrators will have to give them their share if any later on, but west ham can't break the contract.

It happened to Barnsley FC a few seasons ago and the sponsor never paid a penny but BFC couldn't take the name of the shirt, even though the money wasn't paid, unluck hammers hahaha :D

Interestingly for anyone up to speed with body language, did you see the director touch his nose when he said they had done everything they could to avoid the collapse... means he was lying. (apparently) back to my crystal ball....

I like West Ham's optimism, ""West Ham United will be seeking further talks with the administrators at the earliest opportunity to clarify the situation regarding the company," added the statement.

Seems like they want to sell the rights to another company but the legal team are saying "no".

It depends what they have in their contract and if they wrote the clause in that releases them should it go under. Of course it's not gone under and is merely in administration. The administrator may be able to sell the business, so the contract has to stand until the administrator decides.

Still very funny to watch, West Ham deserve all they get!

Depends on who negotiated the contract - if it was the same muppet that handled the whole contract situation of Tevez and Mascherano - then WHUFC are f***ed...

AFAIK - where a company goes into Admin - it is deemed to no longer be operating which would usually negate any contract obligations - ie there woudl always be a clause about exceptional circumstances... but read para above ;)

TBH - ias a hammers fan - I couldn;t really care... long lost any respect for a bunch of players that get paid £50k-£70k a week whilst lots of other far more professional athletes (that don't go boozing every fri and sat night) can barely earn a living...
