Strange website issue

Anyone got any ideas on this:

I have 4 websites on 1 server, two are database driven. The two database driven sites are running very slow, particularly on pages that have some sort of login/submit form on them. The two non database sites work fine.

I contacted the host thinking there was some sort of mysql issue, The host says that all looks ok to them.

If I go to the sites through a proxy server then all works ok which points to a possible isp issue, however all other sites (such as this one) work fine on my home connection.

I've cleared cache/cookies, rebooted rooter, turned off firewall, tried ie and firefox, kicked the computer and the problem still exists.

Any suggestions as to what the cause of this may be?

Oh and if anyone else uses freedom2surf broadband can you please drop me a pm as I'd appreciate it if you could try the sites and see if they work for you?

Cheers, Grant

I have mirrored one of the problem sites to another server and it works fine but the original site also works fine if I go through a proxy. This is doing my nut!

Obviously not a connectivity issue then if the non DB sites work fine.

Are your database tables correctly indexed?

how are you processing your forms?

Maybe apache or your perl/php process is somehow verifying the requestor - so maybe a dns issue?

(don't shout at me - just an alternative line of enquiry without any knowledge attached!)

The databases seem to be fine, the worst affected is an oscommerce site thats been up for well over a year with no problems until this started yesterday. The other site is vBulletin which has been up for about 6 months.

I cannot get my head around why the non db sites work fine but I have to go through a proxy for the database sites to work properly...........

I had a similiar problem and was going mad at my hosts but turned out to be a problem with my isp after host did a traceroute using my ip showed that everything was fine until it reached my isp.
