Advice sought re website glitch

Hoping someone can identify where the glitch is. Only started to show on latest IE browser, works fine with all the others.

The grey; Home, Buy, About Us, Contact Us bar goes right across the page (only on home page though)....

Any ideas anyone?? all advice greatfully received. Was ok on older IE browser.

Please See: collectablefish dot com

Many thanks in advance for input.

Hi

You'd probably be better off asking this question in the CSS forum at:

sitepoint.com

but anyway, try setting a width to either your menu class or try setting a width on the div that is bounding the menu.

Rgds

Cheers Accelerator for the link to sitepoint. I'll check and see if any one there can help.

I use a mac here at home so I cannot see if any changes have happened if I tweek the css code on the page. I have to wait until I get to work to see if it makes any difference so it's not practical for me to mess about!

Best

probably unsuitable css.

reminds me of this menu http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/centered2.html€

using the * HTML .menu with the width: 1px is forcing the full width I think.

Could try removing that, or replacing the css with something different.

Code:
.menu a, .menu a:visited {
width:300px;
display:block;
padding:5px 16px;
color:#000;
background-color:#CCCCCC;
margin:0px;
border:1px solid #000;
text-decoration:none;
font-weight:normal;
}
In your CSS file, add width:300px; as shown above in the correct location, doesn't have to be 300, whatever suits you.

I usually download the current file from the server, rename the one that is there, make a change, and send the file back to the server (in case you break something else you have a backup)

Upload back to your website root and do a refresh on your page view.

Should be easy enough. I tested it on my hard disk and it worked.

You have an error in the line here too:

Quote:
.centered {margin:0px auto; padding:5px 0px 0px 0px; width:500px; w\idth:500px; }
second "width" has a slash it in, take it out.

Big thanks to you all for your input.

I'll have a fiddle with it later and let you know how it goes.
