  • Mini sites with 100 MySql Db's for WordPress installs. US based but does the job BlueHost
  • Windows based for ASP and PHP for Expression Engine installs thats seems the fastest out of 4-5 companies we tried FAST2HOST
  • Client websites and larger projects in house with UK based servers Krystal Hosting

Just to add DomainMonster for domain reg seem to be super fast unlike 123-reg and control panel on apr with 123-reg so quite good.

Currently using slicehost for my VPS, had an outage the other day, but it's an inperfect world. Admin panel is good, including an AJAX terminal, billing is easy and the price is right for me.

Ty_, I thought Hostgator withdrawn their VPS after the soft launch didn't go very well ?

VPS Hosting | Linux VPS Servers with cPanel from HostGator

Their prices was good.

Dave, arn't slicehost part of Rackspace now ? When I was talking to a rackspace monkey about their cloud hosting (surprisingly cheap for RS), they mentioned that.

Whats their control panel like compared to say cpanel/whm ?

Apologies, I didn't realise they weren't still offering it to new customers - maybe they had issues scaling it up?

I read on their forums a while ago (like a year ago) they was having problems getting a tech specialised in it or something like that. I haven't used HG for the best part of a year, when I moved the site to another host.

I'm looking for a VPS at the moment to host a side project, but I don't want the hassle of unmanaged and I don't wanna pay for managed, HG looked ideal as I only left them because their throttles/rate restriction resulted in some sites being painfully slow.

Edit: I currently have http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting-vps.html, but their control panel makes me nautious.

Yeah they are, the outage I mentioned was actually a RackSpace outage. When I said control panel I meant the VPS kind, soft reboot, hard reboot, snapshots, resource monitoring etc, I think all SliceHosts VPS' are unmanaged.

I have reseller accounts at both NamesCo and Rochen. Both provide excellent support. I picked Rochen to host my Joomla sites as they host the joomla.org site.

Doug, the vast majority of cPanel hosts will have fantastico as a basic, and more upper level ones installatron. Both of these are capable of installing a selection of CMS style programs from templating systems, content management, frameworks, blogs and portals.

Most will have b2evolution, Pivot, WordPress, Drupal, Soholaunch, Moodle, Code Igniter, Coranto, Joomla, Mambo, ocPortal, PHP-Nuke, Xoops, Zikula.
