Has anyone had any contact from a John Wallin from Georgia, USA asking if a name of yours is for sale? Someone has told me that he's actually working for / with Rick Latona but it'd be nice to have it confirmed.

Yes - I have also been contacted but not yet replied - Request came via post on non letter header paper with email and tel at bottom.

I got a letter, also heard the same rumour. Not had a reply to my response email so don't have any more info as yet.

yeah, got a letter too. Was it just asking about one domain and was there a specific theme?

i.e. My letter asked about one alcohol related domain

Yes, have been contacted and it would appear as if he's associated with Rick Latona. Looks like he's after inventory for the next TRAFFIC event.

Hi.

I found this thread via a search for JT Wallin.

We too have been contacted entirely out of the blue by JT offering money for a domain we hold. The domain runs a healthy and useful web site (1.7m unique visitors per year) and we've not previously considered selling either the domain or the web site. I know nothing of domain speculation.

I can't find any info about Ray Latona (unless he is CEO of a construction company, which seems unlikely) and I have no idea what a TRAFFIC event may be.

I'd very much appreciate it if anyone could elucidate on these guys and whether any offer is to be taken seriously... or are they scammers? I'd be interested to know what a "TRAFFIC event" might be too.

Sorry for the questions from a first time forum user.

Thanks Grant and Scott. That's cleared thing up nicely and I can now see why they have an interest in our particular domain.

Disappointing to see that the most a domain was sold for at the Oz Traffic event was $150k (even if I assume that they were US dollars and not Australian dollars).
