This Seller has Domains to sell on Ebay, i enquired about one and asked about the transfer through nominet, here is the reply

Quote:
Nominet are just the governing body for all .co.uk domains, they are similar in "car " terms to the dvla that's all , i will wet you up a free account with 123-reg.com and place the domain name in it and register you as the recorded owner it is then up to you what you do with the domain.kind regards

- platinumdomainnames

Superb domain name suitable for anyone in the the business

You are buying the internet web domain name www.**********.co.uk only ,Transfer of ownership is very simple, a free account is set up for you with 123 reg .com the domain name is then taken from my account and put into your new 123 reg .com account once in there I will transfer ownership and the name will be yours in a free account for you. .generally within 72 hours the domain shows up as registered to you in your own account, it is then up to you what you do with it .A very simple and easy process This is the only way i do transfers, i dont transfer elsewhere that is up to you.you are buying the web domain name only very catchy and very unique .I will only transfer the ownership of the name once cleared payment has been received by myself, if for any reason paypal put your payment on hold it will be up to you to get the hold removed before i transfer ownership..The ownership of the name will be transferred almost straight away BUT only upon cleared funds .Any questions please feel free to ask...any question please feel free to ask you are buying the Internet domain name www.********.co.uk only. The picture is purely for illustration purposes and may depict visually an example of type of business then domain name may suit. You are not buying whatever the picture is of you are buying the internet domain name ONLY. I realise buying a domain name can be confusing so no matter how daft you may think your question PLEASE ask as im more than happy to answer.

Tell him, you can't legally transfer the ownership of a car without going through DVLA. Nuff said.

Could be wrong, but I'm sure that statement above along with proof of payment would be enough grounds to simply send a Nominet transfer to yourself to get the registrant information updated correctly.

That wouldn't be true, though. Transfer of ownership of a car takes place at the point the sale is made, the DVLA only registers the change of registered keeper, which doesn't transfer ownership.

Do you think a con - or that the seller is abroad and simply doesn't understand properly who Nominet are - and are too used to transferring .coms through GoDaddy?

Maybe I'm getting too trusting in my old age
