Domain Registry of America a genuine company sends a letter out to your saying your domains are due for renewal please pay us.

DONT as they are a scam to move the domain away to them.
Only happens on none UK domains.

    See below picture.

    Yep

Got one of those yesterday on one of my .coms.

The reply envelope is to an office address at 56 Gloucester Rd, Suite 526, London, SW7 4UB

Put the correpsondance in the round file tray

They have simply harvested the whois data and sent loads out on spec.

I'll be sending the empty reply envelope back without a stamp, suggest you do the same, they may get the message then !

We had one of these earlier in the year. Unfortunately, it went straight to the Finance Director and he paid without speak to IT.

Thankfully, it didn't go any further than the payment and we still have the domain in question!!

If they're from your registrar and the dates match, then it aint a scam, if they're from another company, it's a scam or just not worth bothering with.

I've been getting this scam spam snail mail for years from these idiots - I'm so used to it that I know the logo on the enveleope and it goes straight into the hat on the naughty chair.

had 11 this year so far, i put them back in a plain white envelope, write the address and pop em in the post box

when they get the other end, royal mail demand a fee to release letter cos its got no stamp on it. they think the letter has chq inside so they pay the 80p or whatever it is, and get there letter back!

if everyone did that, they would soon stop!

Its a shame though because so many non domainers would fall for it no problem.

Im sure they make alot of money!

No Mat, it's not legal. First off, they have no premise for soliciting you for the money. Secondly, they're using harvested data which has been captured illegally. That's against the DPA laws here in the UK and even the USA 'CAN SPAM' Act.

Remember to put a brick in it and forget the stamp!

We received one of these letters too last week. On the brightside, no one in here claims to know anything about the domain name, so it's not a bad one and it appears to be ours ...... I just need to track down where it came from and how to get it back for our use. :-D
