Spoke to Nominet Support and they said domains scheduled to drop today will now drop tomorrow. However she would not state that with absolute, but had iterated this was the message coming from IT department memo.

i do wish nominet would update there status page for members as it is quite frustrating at times when you phone them they wont say yes or no on things.

If domains are not being released i think they should announce this on there website (imho)

I completely agree, or even update their twitter feed @Nominet_systems

Looking like tomorrow, I'm trying to get more info but my contact suggests all should be resolved now. Will suggest that they consider updating the status page though.

I think the support staff are as much in the dark at times as we are, they can only rely on the information from the IT department who update them on issues.

I know that I could be using my DAC quota for list cleaning or speculation so a heads up would always be useful.

Couldn't agree more. That's twice this week that my DAC quota's been wasted!

If dropcatching is a substantial part of your income then it must be a nightmare for you. I know it can't always be helped but a notification or resetting of the daily DAC usage would be nice/courteous.

Dropcatching is less than 5% of our revenue, but it truly is a waste not to waste dac quota on domains that are not dropping.

If you only use the DAC for drop catching, then you are wasting your quota and consuming Nominet's resources. If you know the system is not going to drop anything you can switch off your catch engine.

Obviously there are other uses for the DAC, but this is a domain forum so the majority of members with DAC access will be using it for drop catching!

No you are not wasting your quota. The quota is for a rolling 24 hours.

So if nothing dropped for a day you haven't got twice the quota the next day.
Even if it's just a few hours, if you squeeze all you quote into the rest of the day, you will go over quota the next day.

You might as well just leave DAC running, unless you have other uses for it.
