    Hi,

Just wondering if there are any Joomla plugins/extensions for SEO that anyone could recommend? I know there are a few but looking for a Yoast kind of thing, nice and simple.

    Thanks

I havent used Joomla for many years now , but in Joomla 1.1 / 1.2 the leader used to be JoomSEF by Artio .

Whether they are still current with the latest versions im not sure, it must have been a good 5 - 10 years since i last took an interest in Joomla.

A lot of the functionality of those plugins is now included in the 3.x core. Do you know what you want to achieve?

It's for a site I seem to have inherited. I've never used Joomla in my life before so it was just to do some very basic SEO without having to get my hands dirty.

Its a frigging nightmare! (Stands by for the Joomla lovers)

You need to read, learn and read some more just how to change the page title, or add a menu item of the correct name.

I've just changed 4 old sites over to wordpress as we wanted to add microdata, but could fine no realistic and straightforward way of doing it.

There is no 'Yoast' equivalent (that I found), or anything half way similar.

    Thanks everyone.

Spiderspider: Agreed! It's like they're trying to keep everything a secret!

Are Joomla sites more difficult to rank than Wordpress ones? It might be because I've not used it a lot but everything seems such a chore to do in it and seems really clunky.

I wouldn't say its any more difficult to rank than WP, or doing your own custom one. The on page stuff is still the same, its just the building blocks that are a little different.

I would say its harder to add the SEO bits and pieces, and get them exactly right. WP with Yoast is plain, simple and easy, Joomla is more indepth and time consuming. However, when Joomla is done right, it ranks just as well as anything else.

I have always struggled with SEO with any CMS other than WP. There just always seems to be at least one issue that is hard to fix...
