I guess the takeaway is that they’re not wanted, and are just a confusing pest.

Makes you wonder why they introduced it......

At least they're going to market it in May... 1 whole month before forci...er offering the domains to everyone.

'Get your uk before someone else does and dilutes your brand, ruins your business, and may even attempt reverse hijacking on you later - purely optional of course'.

'Dilute someone else's brand and earn from their success - get your uk now'

'Get your UK now - not only our registrar friends/family need new Ferraris - nominet board members in need'.

Yeah I forgot. The £750 fees will be rolling in. It's good though because really the uk benefits....um....had it...nope it's gone.

The first .UK that goes after a .Co.Uk will be very interesting court case.

They don't even need to pay £795 to start the case they will be flooded with them and they don't even seem to block the silly ones...

Everyone knows how much I hate .uk, yet I also know that I have to protect the .uk for my business. So I hopped online to register the extension for a bunch of domains... and Nominet's online panel through a hissy fit about something, so I gave up.

I will sort it out before the deadline, but I still basically view it as a pointless price increase on .co.uk.

If you phone nominet up, they can manually add you to the free 1 yr scheme before hand, its the first time this has been offered but they need to take up to be big so bending over backwards.

My account, I signed up Feb/Mar for the free 1 year and it wasnt applied, so I phoned up a few days ago and they said they can manually add me.

Calm down Tommy. :) Used to see comments like that a decade ago when you'd just got back from the pub ;)
