I thought it would be useful if there was a single thread for people who are ready, willing and able to take bookings for dropping .uk names.

We will start taking bookings from the 8th July, rate is a prepayment of £5+ vat per domain, and £45 + vat if we do catch, which includes any transfer fee(s)

We only take one booking per each domain name.

Book Online - Select Drop Catch Bookings from Dept dropdown

I have a few RoR .uk bookings with Dropcatcher and today received this email (paragraph 2)...

"We have considered how to prioritise the registration attempts next week and have decided the fairest way would be to allow you to add a ‘Catch Bonus’ for any .UK domain registered. Simply we will submit the requests in the order of the highest catch bonus first. By entering a catch bonus you are agreeing to pay us that sum only if we are successful in catching the domain. If you wish to add a catch bonus you can do so from your control panel."

Why are you not honoring 'first come first served' as promised? I ordered several names with you, paying a non refundable fee, on the basis that it was first come first served.

Well this scheme has been running at least 3 weeks, because I made my pre-orders early in June and there was the opportunity to agree a catch bonus back then. You don't pay any catch bonus up front. You just pay the bonus if it's caught. So you're paying for the priority place in the queue there.

I received the same email and if it is how the email reads, then it' most disappointing, I added non refundable credits purely on the basis of 'first come , first served' only for the rules to have possibly changed after that.
Maybe Simon could clarify if names are now open for multiple requests and no longer first come , first served ?

It's still first come first served. If you have a name booked and its caught theres only one person that booked it. The catch bonus is basically paying for how far up the list you go.

It says this in the mail i got:

Sometimes people have to change the model, and that's what Simon has done here. You don't HAVE to offer a catch bonus - it just moves the domain up their priority list if you CHOOSE to.

The domains I am after are available to book on the site. I was just wondering if anyone has had any success because the bookings are non refundable.

I tried to make the email as clear as possible. We still only allow one person to register a domain on a 1st come 1st served basis. The only issue is what order to submit the requests in and it becomes very relevant when we have over 150 domains to catch in 1 day as the additional drop to minute 2. The catch bonus just orders the requests and is only payable if you win it. We've caught about 40 domains yesterday. The only thing I can say is we caught a lot more due to the move to Tier 1 which wan't easy.

We have an 11am cut-off for orders.

Dropcatcher has caught a good .uk this week for me. I use dropcatcher all the year round because I trust Simon and I get domains all round the year.
