Agreed that pay.co.uk was a fantastic buy at $12,040.

Always makes me wince a little when I see those two letter .cc domains selling for silly money.

I originally bought 160 of the them (all the cc codes, etc) direct from Verisign for $16,000, flipped a dozens or so for $1000 - $5000 each, mostly around the 2k mark. I then sold the remaining names as a package a few weeks later for what I thought was a very good price – only to see cc.cc and co.cc sell $70,000 each a month or so later, and now fr.cc this week for $50,000.

Fair play to the seller, he invested enough so nice to see it work out for him – still a little painful though.

You could follow the capital you received from the sales down a line to get a real picture of what you made, and a bird in the hand and all that.

Put it in bricks and mortar pre-recession, unfortunately.

I see where your pain is coming from, still what doesn't kill us makes us stronger.

Some of the Nokta sales reported don't look legit at all... are they deliberately pumping up their portfolio value with fake sales or something?

Who exactly are Nokta? I know they have a massive portfolio and I had always assumed they were a VC fund or similar as they obviously had significant funds to buy the initial portfolio (or was it all at reg fee?).

Also are they a Turkish company or have they based themselves there because Turkey has a trader culture and so the employees would be very comfortable with negotiations.

If you have 80k names, you're in a strong position to hold out for "huge" offers.

I was in for pay in 2008 and 2009 and having just spoken to the owners and previous registrants of the name this morning, they have no idea how it has been sold.

They are taking legal advice as we speak ) One to watch!
