There is a dot com I would like to buy listed for $270

I offered $200 a few days ago and have heard nothing back so am wondering what to do next?

I can't be sure the person has even seen my offer and there is no buy it now button like there is on some domains.

In general it seems like a strange system for a buyer!

What happens if you offer the full $270?

I haven't tried yet but I'm assuming nothing happens automatically if its listed as 'make offer' rather than 'buy it now' so I would be in the same position as I am at the moment

Ive had that a couple times where its an offer and you then get a mail with a counter offer for xxxx . When you question them they say oh sorry....its just a minimum offer. Its a bad way of doing it if your selling a domain as it makes the buyer person instantly get a bad taste.

Good luck though,Hope you get it.

Yeah as @dee says it's minimum offer. Fell foul of this myself couple of times and then get pee'd off when you realise such.

Hopefully, the domain is still for sale, I've previously purchased domains through Sedo to only find the domain is no longer for sale as it's already been sold or expired and with a new owner.

This one has a 'Minimum offer' of $80 and "Seller's asking price" of $270 so I thought $200 was a reasonable starting point

Could just be owned by someone who isnt really a domainer as such, I have a couple of mates that brought a bunch of domains over the years, probably have 50 each or something that most of them are listed on sedo for sale. But they rarely check their emails let alone go online too often so it could go for a month or two before they saw someones offer on it. Not saying thats the case here, but its possible.

Give 270 a go! Might just be your lucky day! Someone remind me, what Sedo's minimum commission is!

The minimum price doesn't always reflect the sellers price expectation. We made an offer of £285 for a domain on Sedo, that stated "Buy this domain name for £285" on the parking page, and they counter-offered £4590.

I got totally annoyed with their stupidity and ridiculously high commission that I closed my account there. I got fed up trying to buy domains at 'buy it now' prices and then not actually getting it. Sedo are a pile of poo now - their ppc is awful and their understanding of sales in the uk market is pathetic. The *only* thing they have going for them is bulk. I've had far more success selling in the past though simply placing a landing page on a domain. I hope they go bust - they deserve to.
