I still never quite expect the level of hostility from the scots. I know some of it is banter but I honestly support them 100% - to see teenagers screaming for our demise still surprises me.

I'm in Majorca, watched in a restaurant full of English.

There was a family of Scots who, while respectful, were clearly desperate for Columbia to win - in the penalties their teenage son forgot himself for a minute and screamed with joy when Columbia scored.

Also a Scottish man and his wife came in and when Columbia scored their first he went over the top with his cheering - deliberately winding everybody up. It was quite hostile and in a family restaurant there was no need for it.

They may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!

Seriously though. It is sad that young Scotts are bought up being taught to hate the English (At varying degrees).
I wanted them to gain independence on that last referendum. Hopefully on the second one they will.

Yeah its weird. I moved there with forces 25 years ago. My brothers and family still up there. The amount of times i've had fights based purely on some drunk idiot hearing an accent and having a pop. Thankfully it is a minority though, the majority of Scots are like any other nation and wonderful in general. Whenever you ask them why , they generally have no idea on the history behind it it's because their parents said so.

I feel this way about anything negative, regarding human interaction.

Why does there need to be anything but positivity and support, to help each other improve, progress and grow?
It's just such a weird perspective to have, and what an odd ambition for some to knock people down, hold others back or just generally make them feel negative. Where is the genuine gain in that - for anybody?

What an odd world we live in.

The Irish pub I went to last night had a mixed British, Irish, Scottish and Dutch crowd, it was one hell of a party. I'm still hoarse. B.t.w. why didn't Vardy take a penalty, he's a striker and should know how to take one. Awesome but totally nerve racking match it was. I hope the Brits make it all the way to the final.

I think Mr Southgate has probably had some form of life/business coach going into the England Job or at least thats what it feels like, The comment last night about "owning the process" stinks of something a coach would say. It's all positivity driven, same for the modesty of the players in the interviews, none of the normal chatter and being humble, its all "I'm good, you will believe that im good" talk which even coming from normally quite humble players says to me Southgate has told them to believe and make others believe, if they believe the country will follow suit.

I really like it.........ALOT, I'm a firm believer that positive thinking and being around positive people is a massive influence in decisions, luck and life in general. As they say, "thoughts become things" and " you make you're own luck".

    Ditto to this.
I've always lived by the mantra; "A real man makes his own luck".

Over the last 10 years or so, I have been expelling almost all controllable negativity from my life - no matter what.
For the most part it has had a positive effect on me personally, which in turn has had an impact on the family members in the household and beyond.

We (humans) are all too influenced by external environments and individuals.
As much as possible, we need to choose the environments we frequent, and the individuals we socialise with selectively, and improve them however we can.

    This benefits everyone.

Best England manager in a long time. Forget any results or what they might achieve, I'm a big fan of how Gareth Southgate conducts himself and speaks. He's ambitious and intelligent - very much the right man for the job.

If only Nominet had a leader like him eh? Rather than a money-grabbing fool.

I loved how the pundit panel were so hoarse after the match, they could barely squeak a sentence out! And for good reason...

Vardy groin strain. Otherwise was due to take 5th pen. Am really pleasantly surprised with Southgate, have to admit I was not smitten with the appointment but he has proved me wrong.

Yes he is a great manager. Maybe missing that penalty in 98 is why we are, where we are today.
