    Hello all

Due to the current pandemic I cannot carry out my everyday work as a electrical safety technician and like most am currently making no money and haven’t done for the last month.

Even before the pandemic I was looking for another business and have savings to use.

I’ve looked into several different businesses and tried and failed with some too, so instead of looking at the next big thing or something that I can make a thousand pound a day, I want to look at things that I can make even £1 a day everyday Online!

This will sound like something simple to most on here but I’m a novice with this and haven’t done anything internet based for years.

many advice would be much appreciated

The concept is probably too dated now

I’d probably try and make one site earn £500 a week in the current SEO climate.

The information is still valid just do one site really well!

What do you know about, what are you passionate about, what are you naturally talented with

A lot of ways to make money online, but they all take some of the above

The quickest way would probably be to buy an existing site/business that's already making money where you feel you could add value and take it on to another level

^ But that takes knowledge, not something you would obviously want to do on a whim and buy a lemon

Buying a dropped domain with good links in a niche you want to pursue is a good leg up vs starting from nothing but again all takes knowledge in different areas

If you're entertaining guy and have a passion for a popular subject making a youtube channel is always an option; I made a youtube channel the other year discussing theories from the Game of Thrones books and some of them got 100,000+ vies and made ok money

^ Well, for the time it took me to make them it wasn't the best money but I think if I'd kept at it I could have built something good

If you're an attractive man and comfortable with it make an onlyfans ;)

Millions of avenues to explore but again all depends on knowledge, passion and talent (and a little bit of money at the start depending)

    Thanks for the responses guys

I’m guessing by an initial look through the threads Adsense and affiliate marketing are the ways to make money??

I do have a few existing sites that I tried to make money on but had absolutely no joy what so ever!

I’m more of a jack of all trades master of none and my hobbies are so varied I wouldn’t know where to start or even if I could ‍♂️!

I've looked at bitcoin/trading but I don’t think It’s worth the risk at this moment in time.

I would prefer to buy and sell a product possibly restore/refurbish/manufacture in the long term but I can’t even make a pound a day at the moment, I possibly need an example or an understandable how to guide??

If you're interested in trading, now is the ideal time to get into it. If you have the capital to risk. Oil, Airlines ... you name it.

Searching for a way to make money online may be the wrong approach, with hoards of jobless now joining the same quest.

You need to define some of your skills or interests which have business potential. Success is usually derived from a USP (unique selling point) What could you offer that is better than others providing similar products or services?

I am impressed by the success of a guy on YouTube who covers fairly basic car repairs. He works outside, using his parents driveway. In a crowded market, he is way ahead of others with well equipped workshops.

His simple format and presentation clearly appeals to a huge audience, over time generating a handsome return for his efforts. Even if he stopped now, his passive income would likely continue for several years.

Sometimes we need to turn back to our childhoods. When we were unafraid of trying things and failing. I was a hustler when I think back to it, I wonder what happened sometimes. It seemed too easy to make money as a kid and now as an adult - it's harder. Why is that? Because kids have drive. They have ambition. They are humble as fuck! I remember grinding my ass off washing cars for 20p - just to get some sweets and whatever else I wanted. I remember there was always this one guy who paid £10. I would beg for change outside the local coop, "Excuse me, do you have 50p, I need to make a phone call!" - damn right. I got that money. Next person came along, I'd need to make another phone call :D Kids don't give a hoot. No shame. I was a HUSTLER. I'd have "car boot" sales on the pavement outside my house. I'd sell Pokemon cards. I'd do anything for money! When I hit senior school I was making money selling single cigarettes at 50p each (those from my era will know the killing we made on that one), pack of 10 cigs used to cost about £2 - you do the maths. I ate like a king.

Somewhere along the line we lose this hustle. We lose this ambition. Things get inside your head. That child inside you, the one raring to go get that money whatever the cost, seemingly disappears. But they're still inside you. You gotta let go of all the "adult" stuff holding you back. The shame, the embarrassment, the pride, the ego. It's hard and if you figure out how - let me know.

I didn't have a bad childhood, my childhood was awesome. It wasn't privileged and I didn't have stuff other kids did. But my Mam worked tirelessly as a single mother to raise a runaway kid with a bad mouth a worse attitude. I had no fear of living. We're all scared now. Scared we're gonna be judged and laughed at. Scared of being different. Scared of failing. Winners fail. It's a fact. But where winners and losers differ is in the attitude the get up and go again. Be that kid who hustled for 50p on the pavement.

Don't overthink things or overcomplicate it. Sometimes, the best things in life are simple. Look at the wheel!

You could try a delivery service for people that cant get slots for tescos, asda, m and s - Facebook would be the best route for getting out there.

    Amazon drivers.

Could try sub contracting to Righio.co.uk as you are electrical, you get min of 45%, they charge £79 per hour and up to £179, depending on time.

There is a huge shortage of basic gardeners and spring is onits way.

    I wouldn't recommend this but a 6 week crop of green in a 12' x 12' room would make you £30,000

General handyman is another great business, £30 job here and there.

Where do I sign up. It's funny, this year I was going to take my gardening skills to the outdoors and try some guerilla growing. But no. China has other plans.

Thank for the replys guys, I’m always trying different little businesses but none have been a passion as such and none have taken off.

I am in a fairly good position as I have access to a starter fund of maybe 5k, some land, a decent sized building, a big van, limited online knowledge and plenty of time on my hands.

As a child my passion would be to repair, restore motorbikes or anything with a small motor and I’d spend hours on a motorbike, however I have no qualifications and finding anything that needs work to repair and sell on seems impossible, I spend most of my time searching ebay, fb marketplace, gumtree etc for “projects” but everyone seems to be selling things for the end product price not a project price.

I’m constantly also looking for something to restore/refurbish something that I could do either 1 a week and make a big profit or 200 a day and make a little profit on each, for example decent log stoves can be bought for £100, cleaned up, painted, new bricks etc and sold for 2-3 times the price. This isn’t something I want to do but as an example there has to be other things like this!!

I recently had an idea about restoring rechargeable batteries but getting the replacement cells is an issue in the current climate.

I’ve tried carpet cleaning and power washing but neither made decent money and both were very competitive markets.

    the search goes on

Not ideal at the moment, but one of the easiest ways to make money if you are fit, healthy and love animals, is dog walking.

So many people have dogs, but due to work, health or other reasons, don't have time to walk them.

Never ceases to amaze me how many dog walkers drive about my area in vans in the same way tradesmen do.

Most charge £10-£15 an hour (and often walk more than one dog at a time).

A while ago now, but in 2015 Directline did a survey and found the average salary for a dog walker was £26,500, well above the national average wage.

I have my own dog and tbh walking him a couple of times a day is difficult enough (due to the size of him and type of dog) but thanks for the input

The clever part is to show viewers repair or maintenance jobs which apply to many cars (not specific models) and what can be done with keen DIY skills.

    Here is a good example,

His style, content and editing are adequate but not exceptional. His enthusiasm is obvious, and this is what attracts the audience. Interestingly, he has achieved such success never appearing on camera, as far as I am aware.

Sometimes the journey is more than the destination. Colin Furze is another successful Youtuber, with outrageous and often dangerous projects. Each mad invention is a story, with failures and mishaps included. It is a bit extreme for my liking, but I can appreciate his talents as an engineer.

The main attraction of these videos is entertainment, with occasional education thrown in. Engaging with viewers helps a lot, comments can be guiding and helpful even ones that seem negative.

From what you say, you seem to have an ideal setup for a Youtube channel. Workshop, experience, time and funds. I think you underestimate your potential, but it would take sustained effort and commitment.

Instead of looking for items to buy and resell, what do you already have that could be a subject for video content? For example: What does an electrical safety technician do, and who needs them, basic checks for homeowners and appliances ...

Thank you for the encouragement, I've definitely thought about this before, I'd prefer to stay away from my current business as it's more business to business and a very boring monotonous job, highly competitive and something I eventually want to fizzle out.

Ideally I'd like to start a business I could supply, fit and repair items as an hourly rate isn't great no matter what the rate you charge.

However whilst I have all this spare time a website that I could make money everyday as a hobby would be nice.

I have some exiting domains, websites that need work but I seem to be wasting my time with them!
