Can you post any to give an idea of what you’re looking to do?

Ahrefs posted a great course on YouTube this week about getting traffic to a site which may help if that is what you are struggling with, but even if not, it’s an excellent series anyway.

One of my half built sites that I started 5+ years ago is exercisesupplies dot co dot uk, it's getting 20-30 hits a day but no sales, needs finishing off and updating! But I have server all domains that may or may not be any good I really don't know what wakes a good domain tbh

I am currently building a gift site, does anyone know of a free version of what ahrefs does to analyse keyword, search terms etc. I dont really want to spend $99 a month at the moment - Any ideas most welcome.

Building a website to create a net income is a mountain to climb. Everest base camp is an arduous 10 day trek from Lukla. That could compare with ten months to get a startup off the ground, if all goes well. To even create a viable business plan would be a challenge.

Youtube is not for everyone, I would guess that only a tiny proportion of videos make a worthwhile financial return. Stats for the service are truly mind blowing,

300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute!

That is a mountain of content, but mostly the cream rises to the top. If conditions are right, similar to the ascent of a hot air balloon. I see so many advantages with the Youtube route.

It can work with a modest budget, no selling, no returns, flexible hours, minimal accounting... Even failures and issues can be good for ratings. The possibilities are endless.

I have thousands of exciting domains and thoughts for development, but I am no longer tempted to invest time or money in any of them. Many others I have sold, some are now well established websites but a lot more have fallen by the wayside.

Think these days its the content that makes a good domain. A great address will give instant authority and possibly some direct type in, but content is king

Can anyone show an example of a site that makes between £1-100 a day through absence or affiliation??

I'm not looking to steal an idea more to look how a site works.

    Thanks

You posted the same request in 2016 and got some helpful replies, maybe go back and check that thread.

    https://www.acorndomains.co.uk/threads/absolute-beginner-advice-anyone.141491/

No-one is going to start posting their sites though and if you've not been able to create a site that makes £1 a day in the last 4 years, or even just research and identify one that makes over £1 a day then maybe it's not for you. No offence.

Thanks for the input, times have changed since then and I'm wondering if there are new ideas tbh, but will look again at the old thread.

I can't find out how to research domains like I did do, like keyword research etc??

Judging by the lack of examples, it looks like I'm not the only one that hasn't built a site that makes £1 a day or over!!

Your better off flipping a domain for £365 than putting in all the effort to make £1 a day.

I wouldn't have a clue how to choose a decent name that I could make that sort of money on tbh.

With all the spare time I have ATM and absolutely no way of making any money, I'd like to use my time to learn how to make £1 a day from a domain name, for more a learning curve and something to do, I have 20 odd domains currently so hopefully one of them could be used, if not I'll buy another.

It seams like it's either a secret to the ppl that have made money from a domain or no one can actually make money from a domain??

Not like I'm wanting to pinch a niche just look at how someone has actually made money as in how much content, links, adsence placement, google placement, keyword research tools, etc.

I made a Game of Thrones book theory channel as said before

    I started in 2016, I've made 8 videos, I haven't made a video in 2 years

I had some things going for me when I started, I love and really know the books, they're a popular topic, I think I'm good at writing and explaining my theories and I have a good voice for narration

For the 8 videos I got a total of 806,842 views and 3000 subscribers

Half of those views are from videos which got 200,000 views each

^ It seems like if youtube suggests your video and it does well with clicks/audience retention then they will keep suggesting it and you end up with a good amount of views

The average view duration on my best performing videos is 4:30 and 4:20 so I guess that's the bench mark to aim for in viewer retention if you want your videos to get pushed (at least in the GoT niche)

A newer video I have with 225k views, because youtube changed their rules I uploaded it in January but didn't get re-approved for earnings until December so only 28% of views were monetised

So had ended up being 225k views for $281

    monetisedplaybacks.png

Take into account it takes me 10+ hours to make a video though, to write the script, record the audio, edit it

So probably at least 100 hours work for what should have been $1000 or maybe $100 = $10 an hour or $11 probably at best

I think if i kept at it (I probably will start up again) if every video did 200k views for $400 it would be $40 per hour which is nicer amount but because of corona i'm assuming cpm has tanked for now

But also this is a generic topic, if my videos were more about gambling, stocks, weight loss, toys etc I'm sure the CPM is way better

Thank you for the input, I don't think youtube is for me, I have done a few educational videos that have taken my limited editing skills most of the day to record and edit and I've had probably 200 views in a year. Most of the time when I'm fixing things I need to do it on the spur of the moment and getting a tripod out is the last thing on my mind!

I've just changed the crank and rebuilt a lawnmower engine this weekend, and thought after I'd done it, I wish I'd have put gloves and overalls on as I was covered in oil. Can you imagine throwing a camera into the mix with that type of disorganised job ha ha.

I'm more thinking off a mini site or even a single page.

For example I have the domain Britishmetal dot co dot uk which I thought was quite good when I bought it.

I don't know how to check how many times it gets searched, how many times the term British metal gets searched, if it has any links any other helpful information and or how to find this information out.

Also as this domain is just an example, I wouldn't know wether to make up a quick Wordpress page with British metal rock bands and some Adsense or a site selling metal as in steel.

I have 20 odd domains some that have existing sites on them, none of them make a penny so I must be doing something wrong!

Oh I will add as well I watch Greg Doucette who makes fitness videos, talked about his earnings

He made $3300 for 325k views taking about how to build muscle so fitness is obviously a much better niche to be in

List your names for sale on here that you don't want and reinvest the money in either another name to flip or put it into making your one site.

I don't want to sell them, I want to use them to make little sites to make money on! Like I said earlier, I don't know what makes a good domain so wouldn't have a clue what to buy/flip I don't need to sell anything to buy more I've got funds, it's more the knowledge I need!!
