Reverting to Alex R's thread (and I apologise for my little derail) I really think number of registrations of the same term is a good indicator that it might have worth. I start to get interested if a domain has 30 registrations with other suffixes. If it has 50 or 60, it's obviously interesting to quite a lot of people, and over 100 and you're usually dealing with a name that could sell.

As I said before, Google Search volume is another indicator that can be helpful.

Mostly, I think over time you just get familiar with what might sell, and what probably won't.

A good tool that I find handy (SEO) rather than domains is surfer SEO chrome extension, is free and will let you see volumes of keywords when you search for them.

Handy for getting volumes quickly if you don't have any paid tools.

    From https://domainlore.uk/droplist/index/0
I used it as an example...I haven't caught it, but it showed up as having a large search volume.

Is there a quick way to check this? I can't think of a place that shows how many extensions it's registered for....

When you say 'single words' - there are tons of single words that aren't worth anything. That's why I created this thread, to try and see if there's a way to sift through the good ones vs the average ones.

e.g. jmyd.co.uk, amateur.co.uk, etc. Is it worth going for these?

Let's take a few examples to see if I've understood.

Is it worth trying to catch?
    • fifa.co.uk
    • kula.co.uk
    • boilerrooms.co.uk
    • immigrationsolicitor.co.uk
    • cricketworldcup.co.uk
Based on what you guys have posted these would be good?

If that was all I said fair enough but I also said how many extensions are they registered in and then check google to see if people are actually using it

A good single word should be fairly obvious and it's generally it's better if it's not the plural or verb tense

You said a bit and I read your post a few times to make sure I understood it.

    I'm still trying to understand...

If I check the auction list here: https://domainlore.uk/ things are sold for like:
    • papershop.co.uk (£130+)
    • shortbreaks.co.uk (£600+)
    • outdoors.uk (£1600)
    • granite.uk (£300+)
    but things like
    • amateur.co.uk
    • payrollsolutions.co.uk
    • debtspecialists.co.uk
    are all only £50!

The £50 ones all match your criteria. Single word, or 'exact match product or service emds that make sense online in profitable industries'.

That's why I'm a bit confused still...can't make head or tale of this all! I would assume debtspecialists.co.uk would have beaten shortbreaks.co.uk (£600+) but it doesn't!

So take this upcoming drop debtassistance.co.uk. Is that a great one or is it a cheapie? How would you judge it?

Amateur is vague, it's not a word often used on it's own usually it's in combination with something else

Edit> didn't realise payrollsolutions was a live auction so I wont comment on it

debtspecialists is ok but only one company really using it in their domain name

This is all just my opinion of course, there's people a lot smarter and do better with domains than me

Thanks! This is super helpful. It helps me understand what to look for.
Would you mind sharing your thinking on.
    cycleshoes.co.uk
    shirtdresses.co.uk
    blanketboxes.co.uk

They all have good search volume (10K+), a decent CPC, etc. So are good 2 words, and from profitable niches. Worth chasing?

Can you edit my post out of yours please I didn't mean to comment on a live auction, I thought it had finished

They're all super niche, I don't think anyone would make a site dedicated purely to those products, they would be individual items on a larger website

    Done.

Ah - that helps a ton! So think in terms of can the keywords be used for an entire site rather than a smaller super niche site.
