I did say the same a couple of pages ago. One person cheats, then others need to cheat too or they go hungry. The entire system we have currently is bust. But you, Rob, Kalin etc are all directly responsible for the situation we’re in right now of it all going away. I have no idea how much either of you have made, maybe it was worth it.

Is this really how it went down though, Benjamin? I had an email conversation with Rob a few weeks ago that tells me different.

True, these small registrars are the ones who have created any kind of market place and invested in it, creating value in the .uk domain space. Now Nominet fancy having that all to themselves putting hundreds of those membership paying registrars that created this market out of business. They grab our money, raise prices, introduce an extension nobody wanted, grab more of our money and then decide to sweep it all from under our feet because they couldn't be arsed to police their own systems.

They easily could have nipped this in the bud with minimal effort but they chose to let this happen in their own time because quite frankly it was hugely profitable for them.

Honestly, I've never heard so much drivel..

You're soooo smart, it only took you three years to work out what me, Darren and Denys got ages ago - you probably didn't even work it out for yourself and were told by someone else anyway.

You were successful because you had at least 5 tags, were close to Nominet and you were aggregating the responses along with the flaw with bursting EPPs later in the day like everyone else.

I've no idea why you think you're smarter than everyone else - you're just not as important as you think you are..

'Ive also passed on many logs and conversations to nominet between me and some of Robs members who have been leaking info and i believe nominet have now realized just how big the problem really is and therefore have took immediate intervention'

Really? This whole process is because you gave Nominet some info - get real.. you're totally insignificant..

Three years? Haha, ive not even been catching for three years :D and im not saying im significant either you muppet... and im certainly not saying this is because i gave them logs and flaws... what im saying is this is a direct outcome of tag army's

As for your flaw, i have your original code here, its a load of jumbled up C thats written by a child (How you caught a single domain is beyond me) and your flaw used the shitty dac slowdowns which every man and his dog new about (Totally different to the ones i gave them to fix you muppet)

Listen you jealous fool, like with any flaw... as you know... when the dac slowdowns was around all you needed was a single tag... a flaw is an edge and one tag is all it needs... i could have kept my mouth shut but i told Nominet on the basis i wanted them to put a stop to all the flaws for everyone... seen as though everyone keeps bitching its only fair they put a stop on everything and everyone... maybe there is more who knows but what i do know is exactly what robs doing and what many others are doing but it wont matter soon anyway... i cant wait for them to change it.

If i had my way i would remove dac today and make it so 1 tag holder can buy as many credits as the want therefore additional tags are a total waste...

Ok if you say so :D if i have 5 you must have 10 as your top cat around here... you must have done really well with your script before you was desperate enough to sell it to every tom dick and harry for peanuts and have less than 100 domains on STARWORKS

Maybe, or handed over to a favourite registrar to auction off on an existing platform ... an incestuous staff/director/software blend has enough precedent to be pretty much SOP.

Discussing possible implementations (how to do x) is massively premature before we have conclusively exhausted the underlying-rationales (why the f) part - unless you're trying to let us know Nominet have already decided ?

Not sure on the 400 app-fee (beyond being some time for paperwork checks and historically a small dissuader) but your 100 annual membership fee goes on stuff "for us" like the member events, agm, voting packs and related things.

Whether you are able to derive at least £100 of direct/indirect "value" from being a member of Nominet is something for a different thread or better yet an event with discussions over beers :)

The smoke from that would be enough to get the CMA involved *if* the membership overwhelming reply "dont do it" and they go ahead anyway - of course how "fair" it will be once management of .uk gets handed over to a truck driver who doesn't even own a domain (but who is mates with BoJo/Cummings) is questionable - we'll probably all be here pinning for the glory days of Bulgarian cartels ;)

For which you should be applauded not penalised - I'd suggest making that a formal complaint [ assuming they have someone in the role now - I can't recall if Helen's replacement left or if that was a different "Head of Delivery" ] at least it's then recorded and they have to answer

Admitting that you don't have a specific skill but know someone else does, and that they should be engaged to perform a necessary task is far more likely to get you thanked not laughed at in a real-world private-sector organisation - but then in the real-world it's not all about little empire building as it appears to be in cctlds and gtlds :p

Of course in the real-world many flaws get discovered/investigated by 3rd parties, and often shared/solved from that disclosure - bug bounties are only a commercialisation of something which has been going on for over 30 years

Do Nominet employ clever/talented aka "good" people - normally yes, do they all stick around forever - no, there's been an obvious shift from career to job culturally over the last decade, have they all been great coders-or-whatever - absolutely not, and are Nominet staff or systems ever going to be flawlless - heck no

Surely a Nominet bug is just a feature they haven't realised they can charged you for yet !

So what was this new flaw, and did you say they have already fixed it ?

Regarding the consultation, I don't know why this all has to come at once. I think the majority agree on publishing droplists and releasing at a specified time. That should remove the need to collude on DAC access and allow nominet to deal prepare for and deal with the technical requirements in a more consitent manner. Why can't they ship this and then re-assess.

The question on how nominet should distribute the profits is laughable. I no longer trust nominet to do anything in the interests of others.

My thoughts are in a weird place on all this, between the collusion and people exploiting flaws I don't know about, my dropcatching is virtually non-existent now, yet I still like the buzz...
