I'm at a fork in the road, and unsure the path to take. What would you do?

I'm creating a content based website. I have a choice to target a larger US audience or UK audience. both markets are quite a size and the same content would apply for someone reading in the US or the UK.

The domain I have in mind is available in both the .com and the .co.uk (it's brandable not an EMD).

Configuring domains nowadays within G Console seems to steer you in the direction of a US or UK audience. Ideally I want to target both. Is this really possible, or do I have to put the brave pants on a pick a market?

Hosting has been a concern. Host in the UK or the US, G sees the signs and chooses a market for you - or is this my antiquated opinion and been stuck in the game for too long.

Although I could quite happily build a website on the .com and the .co.uk, it's a little pointless. I can't share the content through risk of duplication. I don't want to split the content as I halve the traction across two markets.

Given the choice here, and building a content based site up from scratch that would appeal to an international audience what would you do?

If there is chance of US market reach, then I'd choose the .com all day long. Make sure you mix it up with your outreach and link aquisition to ensure you have a diverse profile from sites based in each country and sites which have notable traffic numbers specifically from those countries.

Hosting is a non-issue, setup on a good server/VPS in any location you wish, then use a premium DNS like Cloudflare with Argo and your response times will be good around the world, nearly all my servers are Europe based and ranking US and UK has never been an issue.

Thanks - makes sense. I'm looking in to the Cloudfare option as we speak
