Nominet confirmed domain transfer completion on 2 Feb, Sedo advised same day. "If we don't receive a reply from the buyer within 5 days, we will be able to close the transaction and release your payment." Now passed day 10 and counting, reminder sent to Sedo. Buyer insisted on using Sedo, costing him significantly more than alternatives. I removed £250 discount to accommodate his request, so probably no surprise at his lack of co-operation.
It's annoying when that happens. Don't know why but there's always people like that or worse, people that advertise names that they don't actually own (on other marketplaces where you don't have to verify via TXT records) Hope it works out for you.
Well I think this is crappy service. Following my last post (5 days ago) Sedo said delay was due to some buyer confusion over domain status. Now up to day 15 since transfer and still waiting for release of funds. I can see this would be a real headache for seller relying on prompt payment.
So much for "If we don't receive a reply from the buyer within 5 days, we will be able to close the transaction and release your payment." I like Dan.com's approach: they take control of the name and pay you after doing so.
Result! I emailed buyer today with an update and request to approve release of funds. This was followed by an apology from Sedo, and confirmation that payment will happen in next couple of days.
Sedo are awful, I hate them. There are much better alternatives out there. Good luck with your transaction, hope it's plain sailing from here on out.
funds received yesterday! I think main Sedo attraction for buyer was option to pay via credit card (for a 3% fee) If that is the difference between sale or no sale then Sedo is worth the hassle
