Wonder if they'll reset all the timers
Domain Name Auction - Suspended
Please be advised,
As a result of a fault having occurred on a server at our second site,
the auction is suspended.
We will notify you as soon as possible when the auction is to restart,
and of the precise circumstances of that restart.
At this stage we can advise that the original problem with our leased
line in our area has now been fixed (this problem was a regional
Once again, apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Are those other sites housed at hosteuropegroup.com?
We can’t sit and wait for the auction to start any minute. They should start it 10am tomorrow i think.
I totally agree and what more all bids placed today should be null and void and the auctions restarted afresh when NFPA have sorted out this problem.
It depends if the issues were present from the beginning, if the platform couldn't handle bidding in the last seconds, awarded names should stay that way.
Ok but some people (including me) couldn't log in to the NFPA website first-thing this morning with no reason as to why this was. I unfortunately hadn't opened my emails and just kept persevering to log on to their site ;-O It was only when I read the email from them that I knew what to do. I think everyone should have received a phone call to inform them of the alternative website arrangement before the auction began in a different place imo!
Did you miss out on any?
By the time I had logged in a few had gone yes but I wasn't that disappointed really as although good they were not the cream of the crop ;-O I should have called NFPA sooner to find out what was going on instead of waiting for what was clearly an inactive site to be fixed ;-( I also had problems placing my bids as their bid submission pages kept freezing on me.
The lack of an update on this is shocking, I've got stuff to do FFS!
I would assume NFPA need to defer to Nominet for the restart procedure.
And Nominet have been unavailable for most of the morning...
Nominet Short Domains Auction Update
Further to our previous communications, we would like to provide an update.
Our dedicated internet connectivity provider experienced a major regional outage last night. Whilst we were able to run from our backup centre for a while, it was clear that there had been some bidder confusion. Ultimately we were not happy that the level of service we aspire to was being met, and at about midday today the decision was made to suspend the auction process.
We would like to apologise to Nominet and the auction participants for this inconvenience suffered.
In the interests of fairness to all bidders, we are going to revert all auctions to the position as at 17.59 on Wednesday 14th September, being the time of the last bid prior to the service disruption. Any bidding which took place after that point in time will therefore be voided as will any notifications of the awarding of domain names, and we will restart the auctions at 10.00 am (UK time) on Monday 19th September.
We will advise further when the auction site is available again.
If anyone is wondering "lmitcheson" here is likely to be Lee Mitcheson of NFPA (the people running the auctions). I checked my email inbox and noticed this forum member has a forum username that matches the first part of the email address of Lee Mitcheson (Systems Analugst at NFPA). At first I thought it might be a new forum member simply copying and pasting the emails that NFPA have sent out today, into this thread. Obviously "lmitcheson" or "admin" can confirm this.
What kind of organisation has a company day across the afternoon of one day and the morning of another day? Almost like they've just come into a load of money and are throwing a party.
so what happened with this?
are all these nom auctions finally over?
Auctions starting again Monday 19/9 due to system problems yesterday
Nominet Short Domains Auction - Auction Site Available
Further to our previous communication yesterday, we can now advise that the auction web site is available again via our main auction URL:
In the interests of fairness to all bidders, the auctions have been reset to their position as at 17.59 on Wednesday 14th September, being the time of the last bid prior to the service disruption. All bids and any notifications of the awarding of domain names which took place after this point have been declared void.
The expiry date of all ongoing auctions has been updated to Monday 19th September. The expiry time remains unchanged, however we will be allowing bids to made on these lots/domains from 5pm (UK time) this afternoon.
If the auction for nfpa.co.uk was due to expire at 10:15am on Thursday 15th September, this will now show; nfpa.co.uk expiring at 10:15am on Monday 19th September
Highest bids made between 5pm today and 10am on Monday will be recorded and the expiry time will then show 11am on Monday 19th September.
Is anyone else international finding the site slow? 503 errors, error please bid again, blank white pages, waiting for www.nfpa.co.uk........
