After reading some of the nomsteer trash I now see what a bunch of childish, intransigent, incompetitent idiots behaving like school kids in playground for weeks on end.

I'm just almost lost for words that a bunch of "intelligent" people could behave in such a pitiful way.. It makes me want to weep..

I just pray to god none of them ever get into any position of power within that organisation.

I agree, I've unsubscribe now which is a shame because the steer group should be a good resource.

Fingers in the ears going la la la will not help, Nominet is very much at a crossroads with the government hovering in the background.

If it annoys you that much do something about it, as a former PAB candidate you surely wont give up that easily?! :)

    2008 - Change, we need.

2009 - Who has what strategy to change things around?

Nominet is not a PLC. It needs someone with NFP sensibilities and experience at the helm.

    Bob Gilbert

It's interesting to note that Bob Gilbert steped down as chairman of Victoria PLC on 2nd December 2007, some 5 months before his contract was due for renewal on 10th May 2008 - one might wonder why he stepped down so early. ;)

Nominets website currently states that he's "currently Chairman of Victoria PLC"...

    Board

...nice to see things are being kept upto date.

Finally - It apears from what I've heard on the grapevine, that Jay Daley is no longer employed by Nominet and that his departure was forced upon him by 'the management' (i.e. Lesley & co) and from what I understand using less than appropriate ways. I myself am appalled to hear of such treatment of such a well respected and liked guy and I hope Jay if you are listening you are ok and I wish you all the best for the future :!:

    Regards,

    Sneezy

Why did he get the push? PM if necessary. I've been away and missed all this unpleasantness.

The disappearance of Jay is certainly disconcerting. The only voice of reason I see on steer is that of Andrew Bennett. The rest of it is just playground noise.

If either of them did, at least it would be less political than it is now

I'm not sure that I want to see the Government running Nominet. Something like Companies House is a shining example of something well run. The CSA is an example of a balls up. The problem is that there seem to be more examples of balls ups than there are examples of well run organisations.

Nominet is much more like Companies House though. How complicated does running a Registry need to be? The CSA must be an order of magnitude more complicated.

I don't understand the need to unsubscribe. Set up a unique nom-steer email address and have it pipe the email to its own inbox. Check it when you wish. EASY! :)

Sean. make sure the 'from' address is the one you signed up to the lists from. I had this problem before I could 'appear' on the list and make my twopennyworth known :p

Actually I was wondering earlier if Nom-steer had been closed down today. Not a single post received for about 24 hours now.

    Yup - spoke to soon.

Long statement from Lesley on Nom-steer plus link to the above in respect of legal action against Jim Davies.

No EGM, as Nominet have had only 3 requests for removal of CEO and Chairman - from Jim, Angus and another member.

    Stephen.
