I have been asked by a domain buyer to use Riverside Escrow -

    https://www.riverside-escrow.com/

for the transaction. I have not heard of them before.

How reasonable an option is this?

    Thanks in advance.

Certainly do not use anything other than an established Escrow firm. I've never heard of this, but looking at their website and obtaining their company number, we can see that they have been incorporated since 2005 but appear to be a relatively small company, filing only micro accounts: https://find-and-update.company-inf...cers/ICfS3j0OlSfvgYkp4WmC6_wJwqw/appointments

We can see one active director by the name of Frances Jane TIERNEY who is also director of a company called Herrington Carmichael Trust Corporation, which appears to be some sort of estate management trust fund. They also appear to be practicing as a lawyer specialising in shareholders rights and perhaps business law: https://www.lawyer.com/united-kingdom-frances-tierney.html

This can be confirmed by checking the SRA: https://www.sra.org.uk/consumers/re...ame=Frances&lastName=Tierney&sraNumber=132023

There's no reviews available for this Escrow company on Google and any further looking turns up only this suspicious article:

    https://www.leaprate.com/financial-...on/fca-warns-riverside-escrow-ltd-clone-firm/

The link inside this article to the FCA is 404. However, on further research it appears that the company in question is legitimate and does appear on the FCA register:

    https://register.fca.org.uk/s/firm?id=0014G00002TpFFSQA3

Probably legitimate, but I would approach with caution.
