    Chaps

A few deals where I have negotiated a deal privately and used Sedo only as an Escrow service, I have now have noticed the sale price appearing on various domain price websites, including domainprices against 'Sedo'

How can this be? as I assumed the escrow service would be confidential!

Anyone have any comments or similar experiences?

    Best Regards

It's not confidential and they always claim it as their sale for some reason, happens to me regularly. I think you need to tell them not to release the price during the deal.

Ta - I suppose I'd do it if I were them - makes them look they sell at more names - bit cheeky though. I have raised a support ticket so we'll see what happens (or not).

Sedo will charge you not to publish the sale.

Not the case, or at least wasn't – have done numerous sales via Sedo and you simply ask that details of the transaction remain private.

Reply from Sedo, looks like the person initiating the Sedo escrow agreement needs to add a line to the email saying 'please ensure details of this transaction remain private'.

    Hi John,

Thank you for your email. When using Sedo's escrow service, you can request that the details of your sale remain completely confidential. By default, domain names, sales prices, and dates are published to third party industry sites. However, as mentioned, this can be overridden in favor of a complete private transaction.

Once the transactions have been initiated, please contact your transfer specialist to request additional privacy options.

Please send Sedo the following information, via transfers@sedo.us:

    • The seller’s name, email address and Sedo username
    • The buyers’s name, email address and Sedo username
    • The domain being sold
    • The agreed sales price
    • Who is paying the 3% escrow fee (this commission fee can be split between the buyer and seller)

More information may also be found via the link below:

I put all escrow sales through Escrow.com, they never take credit or spill the beans on sales data.

Overall, the appearance that Sedo made the sale happen is what is wrong.

Thanks for the replies. Out of interest with Escrow.com does everything have to be done in US $ and payment made to an account in US dollars? just wondering about transaction charges at UK banks where they like to take their unhealthy cut through charges and exchange rates.

Only downside is US$ only. So if don't have a US$ account you will get hit with retail exchange rate conversions by your bank which can be 100-150 pips more than wholesale/trading rates.

I see a gap in the market for a UK escrow myself (not just for domains too). Perhaps their is one?

In NZ we have safetrader_co_nz but can only be used by locally based buyer/seller.

Since you have asked, I believe that I can let you know that there is now a UK escrow service (registered with the FSA) that is set up to allow domain transfers.

It is so new (launched today) that the case studies (one of which is for Domain transfers) are not even up yet (the page is still in Latin !).

    Have a look at www.Transpact.com.

Apologies for anyone who believes this is spam, but since someone on this thread specifically asked if there was such a service, I believe it is fine to let them know that there is (starting today).

Out of interest, why did you launch a site that wasn't finished?

The back-end (the functional part of the site) is finished and tested.

Only two on the front end Transpact.com pages (case studies and blog) are still being finalised.

Due to the vagaries of Google, as anyone on this blog can surely tell you, launching a new site can mean weeks of non-appearance on Google until Google crawls and catches up with the site. So the earlier you get a site out there, the sooner it will climb the Google and other SEO rankings.
That is why the website is live and working but launched silently today.
The site is fully working and active however.

The site will obviously not be marketed until the last two pages are perfected.

    Transpact.com

I am trying to use the service but the technical details from the company are very limited. Have you any details of using the company's web service?

Merrows, The AcornDomain's forum isn't really the place for a discussion of the excellent Transpact.com service (unless it relates to domain sales - which in your case I believe it doesn't).

You have been given a full specification of a secure encrypted web service by the Transpact.com company and that should be sufficient for all your requirements. Just pass it on to your developers, so that they can build an interface between your systems and theirs.

But this is not a forum for discussion of Transpact.com.
This is a forum for the discussion of domain buying/selling.

    Really?

Well I googled the subject of transpact integration and this came up within the top 10, so please contact google about it.

I have not been given full details, and I do not like you telling me what I have or do not have.
