    Hilarious.
    (paraphrasing)
Q: How are nominet going to have communication with members? A new forum or something?
A: Yes we need more communication with members.

    *facepalm*
I think we can see how this is going.

    This was Simon's reasoning:

I'm quite happy watching thanks Lucien! Feel like I've said my bit over the past 3 months... They wanted me to connect and "present" then, and here's the rub, reconnect... I have to be present for my proxy votes to count.

Q: if the EGM passes will the government have to get involved and what are the possibilities of a price rise?
    A: [4 minute waffle] we don't know

We might as well just cut to the vote. This is going to be an hour wasted as we kind of knew it would be.

Did Rob Binns just say, when asked what will the outcome be of a yes vote vs no in terms of change
    "very little" lol

Didn't they say it would be very destabilising 5 minutes earlier

Rob only appears to have one waffle - notice his answer was 99% the same as his previous one with that little bit tacked on.

Q: How are your massive payrises justified?
A: Mark Wood [waffle... not even addressed - passed to Jane Tozer]. The team has outperformed targets every year. [targets not specified nor why they would need them].

Q: Why has it taken so long for nominet to realise that the members aren't happy?
A: Mark Wood - we missed the 'signals'. We'll act on it. We were already addressing the issues. We want to accelerate it.

    Contradiction much?

No you need a link specific to your application. You're not missing much though. So far they haven't actually answered many questions. Just like politics - a lot of words but no substance.

How many board members does one small business need! Too many given I've never seen nor spoken to most of them! Now that is member engagement!

Q: Do you have a contingency plan?
A: Rob Binns : [several minute waffle] Yes. [no specifics] We'll share it with members later.

Q: Do you think more can be done for the members and charity work?

This was clearly put in as an end question to allow Mark Wood to give his 'party political broadcast'. I think you can guess his answer. Apparently nominet are going to have lots of communication with members, have done great charity work funding, and will carry on (no actual specifics or figures). Then over to James Bladel to repeat the broadcast.

A very bland and predictable 'Q&A' session.
    Voting open until 4:15

Well that was fairly flat. I guess we await the outcome of the vote later this evening.

Well, that was disappointing, given only one side was represented! They highlighted the point of member engagement over and over and very little discussion on other key points and concerns.

The chairman looked rather deflated at the end. It was all very civilised though. James Bladel did a lot of the heavy lifting. Not sure if it will change anything.

    From what I gathered though:
Change of board will disrupt nominet but it won't disrupt nominet.
The government may get involved but may not.
Nominet knew members were unhappy but didn't know members were unhappy.
Nominet want to communicate more with members but remove any methods of communicating.
I think that's about it from the Q and A.

Well, the EGM itself was the epitome of a non event. Stage-managed to Soviet levels.

It certainly wasn't like ICANN. Mark Wood seemed to almost collapse when he started talking about proxy votes. The way his posture crumpled was interesting.

At least 50% of his attention was probably on his resignation letter.
