Hi folks,

Just curious which flyer design you like better and why? If you don't like either I'm keen to know why too!

Thanks in advance!

Hi Khalid,

I prefer the message in the safety one but late at night, I'm not sure it would get read....there's lot of info. Safety is more important than 20% off imho. I'd emphasise safety checks of drivers.

The chilli one sends out a strange message to me - implies a sort of stag or hen night out - but the phone number is a lot easier to read and the message is quick, just not sure it's quite what you're after.

What are you after?

Cheers, Luke

edit: The chilli one might be seen as a young couple getting back home for a hot night in too. Dubious.

The second one is much more eye catching to me and would make me read it. On first glance the first one looks like some sort of pamphlet about the dangers of binge drinking and would probably go straight in the bin!

I'm not sure safety is high on my list of priorities when I choose a taxi, I kind of assume I would be safe getting a taxi home. OK, I'm not female but don't think it's an issue for my female friends either.

The first one looks like a domestic abuse / drink aware type campaign, I wouldn't associate it with taxis. For that reason, the second one but not a massive fan of either, tbh.

GET HOME SAFE !

with EDINBURGH TAXI

All drivers fully Police screened

Get your taxi quick on 610 1234

... ;)

@lucy luke - 20% off is a big plus in the city as there's a big fight on at the moment with prices etc.

@rob & @lucy luke - yep agreed chilli one can have negative implications just worried safety one might not be read

@grantw - thanks

@rob_f - again in the city there's an image that private hire cabs aren't as safe as black cabs which is rubbish as they both undertake the same council / police checks.

I don't know about the designs, but what do you think about putting the two parts of the number in different colours?

610 1234

Hmm, I'm not sure, just thought it might help people remember it.

Hi Khalid,

If I was in town i'd bin the first and read the second but I wouldnt instantly know what either are about..especially as i'd be pissed 90% of the time.

Would a picture of a car/taxi not be better, KISS (not in a gay way either;))?

If they've got 7 seaters or whatever, I'd mention that on the ad – that's probably the main question I and my mates ask taxi companies, and not all taxi companies do.

@rob_f - again in the city there's an image that private hire cabs aren't as safe as black cabs which is rubbish as they both undertake the same council / police checks.

Ads that play up to 'being safe' implies there are some unsafe cabs.

Thus the myth continues...

See you picked the 1234 telephone number - smart move.

I must admit I viewed it as one image at first and though it was a poster for a massage parlour wall. I prefer the first one

always use imagery to paint the minds picture even before wording is read - good looking picture or graphics above any cartoon image imo. that second one looks like an advert for a cheap take-away

Hot night out ? - then come on in

Do people read flyers any more?

I'd be trying to get the number in everyone's phone... not sure how - but surely the point is that when they think "i need a taxi" they ring you, not someone else.

Everytime i've needed a taxi i just use the number in my head for the local taxi outfit - so maybe help people pop it in their phone under "Taxi Edinburgh" or something - new style of search marketing :p

@crazihos - thanks

@rob_f - they go yes, it is common amongst most private hire firms due to demand

@rob - there are unsafe operators out there

@bailey - yep bought it in the end! thanks for info

@ratboy - its still big business in the city, even a low conversion rate of less than 1% should pay these off

i designed another flyer that had an xmas theme, not sure if it is any better????

Christmas one is good (part from typo) - Emphasizes the key points and draws attention.

I would focus on getting the flyers in the clubs, pubs, takeaways, etc (commission prehaps?) and telephone boxes etc.

One random idea that came to my head is if you send the contact details to people phones with bluetooth - if you could set up a pc to ping any nearby phones with 'Edinburgh Taxi's new number alert' + contact details then I can imagine this going in a lot of phones (town centre?)

Oh and also, it might be better to do a credit card shape so it can fit in wallet's.
