I would like to share some SEO tips that I believe can help you all to get a good ranking position in Google:

1 Try to get as many do follow backlinks as possible
2. Do article submission
3. Directory submission
4. Forum posting
5. Social Bookmarking
6. Social networking
7. Blog posting
8. Emial marketing

I think these methods will be effective provided that you have chosen the right keywords that will benefit your site, do proper targeting of your keywords and getting backlinks from relevant sites.

Obviously, One has to do keyword research properly before doing anything else. Otherwise, the entire attempt will go in vain.

Excellent off-page SEO advice, BUT, don't forget the on-page SEO as this is still *very* important:

Make sure:

1) Every page contains unique content
2) Meta tags are optimised and relevant
3) Every page has a unique sitewide TITLE
4) All images are descriptively named
5) You are using proper H tags
6) Internal links contain good relevant anchor text
7) Use "rel=nofollow" for links to sites you don't trust
8) Your pages pass the W3C validator

Cheers!

Thanks for providing this information on on-page SEO. I would like to learn more about on-page SEO from other members.

email marketing, the links might still count. At least Google webmaster tools will show something there. But how values are the links, no idea then.

You must opt for three way link exchange not two wayb link exchange because Google has stopped giving importance to it.

Your pages pass the W3C validator
Does anyone believe this is important to seo? I can remember reading a seo book a year or so ago that swore by it but then we got some new submenu software that didn't validate and it had no impact on our sites' serps. Also, when I raised this issue in a different forum - as I wanted to use a fade-in fade-out script that created a good visual effect but that caused validation problems - the general concensus was don't worry, w3c is not important to Google. Would be interested if anyone knows differently?

Personally I don't think W3C is as important to Google as some of the other areas. I could be wrong but Google seems more important with content / authority / etc. then how 'compliant' your site is, but that's just a guess.

As mentioned above, KW search is the long pole in the tent. As with anything, the most important step is the first... errors propagate and grow as you continue further in any process.

But the remaining steps are comparatively easy (although certainly require 'work' and time) that I'd suggest all newbies focus on learning how to tackle KW research quickly and demystify it. (A black art to many :) .)

Skip.

I have a little doubt whether this is important or not from the perspective of SEO. But there is no harm if we abide by this norm.

Agreed; certainly benefits to W3C outside of SEO -- my site looked like crap until I hired someone with W3C knowledge and made it much better for many reasons.

Either way, I doubt the SEO angle too, but I wouldn't ignore W3C for that reason (or any).

Skip.

I agree that W3C is good - and did at one point get my sites validated. Then I used some new submenu software which didn't (for many months, until I found a fix) validate and my sites didn't suffer in the serps. I also asked in a seo forum whether W3C was important as I wanted to use a script that ran from the head section and so caused validation errors. The replies I received were that W3C is not important.

Having said that, I can remember reading a seo book last year that claimed that a W3C validation could be worth a pr rise in itself - so who knows?

I am not certain whether it is important or not from the point of view of search engine marketing. But why should we take chance when we are not 100 percent certain about it.
