The Samsung NC10 has a lot of fans, or you can of course choose a netbook that comes free with a mobile broadband contract, see my free netbooks site for more.

I have an Acer Aspire One and I feel it's a decent little machine.

Rgds

I have an Asus eeepc which is brilliant size for carrying around easily but the screen is a little small for regular use.

The Acer One deal mat has linked to is brilliant value for money...if you can find one!

I have a few, latest is an eCafe machine, which is one of the few with N Spec wifi, and I have a Asus 1000H also with the n spec, the 9inch screen is a little small for general use, but great for on the move.

The card reader is useful tho even if it really is just SD Card.

I prefer the battery life on the eCafe but shape of the asus.

i got a 1530 XPS with all the extras = a bargain at £500
running full development suite without a hitch

Thats not a netbook :p hehehe.

I do like the alienware stuff that dell tho. My netbooks are the only gear I have that isnt dell :)

a common mistake when i reg domains too - i cant spell or read - perhaps i'm in the wrong game here??? :)

Does the XPS run better than the normal 15 series machines do you know ?

I keep eyeballing the M17 series coz you can RAID it up, and I need a decent dev laptop that can handle basic HD video editing :)

i think my graphics card is better than the normal 15
new versions are running DDR3 as well - i'm on DDR2 :(

i was going to get a 17 but too big and heavy - not really a laptop i thought - got 3 desktops a varying crap-ness already, didnt want to add to the collection this time - and as with all bad set ups i've managed to installed everything that was on the desktops onto the one laptop

Both my netbooks can handle dreamweaver and photoshop alone, but can't handle both together. The screens kinda small on both for editing photos too. I'm looking at a 10-12inch sub-notebook rather than netbook as well.

The battery life on them both is amazing at 5-6 hours even watching films :)

sorry this is a bit of a hijack on the thread but . . .
happily running photoshop (limited layers etc), dreamweaver and VS2008 plus all the other junk like google desktop, messenger etc without noticeable issue so far.

I work at like 2000px x 3000px and have about 10-20 layers, and 15 step history. The netbooks can't handle it, but upto about 1080x1920 its ok on the netbook.

I can edit 640x480 and run dreamweaver ok.

Its not strictly off topic as we care comparing netbooks to laptops :)

I think once dual core atoms or similar come onto the market it will be cool :)

Oh the mouse pad on the ecafe is horrid and not good on the asus either.

well i have just come home and am writing this from my new netbook.
i went for the "eee pc 904HD"

what a lovley little bit of kit this is:D

What made you choose that one ?

Netto have the ecafe, I have at £240, whoch is 8.9inch screen, 60gb hard drive (i wanted small for that extra bit of battery juice), wifi N, 1.3mp camera, 1gb ram, 1.66ghz Atom proc, 6 cell battery, win xp. If anyones still looking, the one local to me has 2 of them on the shelf :)

have been playing around with these things all day.
i dont suppose there is any 1 main reason why i chose this one.
just liked the feel/size of it and it has everything on it i could want.

now i have to get 3 more!! one for the wife and the kids want on each:???:
