Thanks to heart erasing/losing the database while I was in vienna back in Jan, all I have on my new host server is all the files without the database, is it possible to get the current wordpress back up and working without the database or was everything required in said database and I need a complete new reinstall?

Thanks
Lee

if you didn't do an export from within WP before it went, then yes, you'll probably need to reinstall. Have a look through what files they've left you with. There might have been a plugin running that did an auto backup. It'll be an XML file I think.

Sometimes web hosting companies regularly backup and store MYI & MYD files (like a hard copy of mysql)

If they can provide you with those, then you may be able to recreate your original DB

I evacuated heart Tuesday night, somewhere else now, saving £460 a year, didn't really put much effort into my websites anyway. Silly question maybe but if I did do a back up at some point - unlikely, what would the file extension be and I'll sieve my pc.

Also, a request please, even though I had the chance a few months back to crawl google for the history, if anyone can locate blog pages for squillions.com, it would be appreciated, I've checked the main engines but there's nothing left.

Thanks
Lee

it'll be in the format of wordpress.YYYY-MM-DD.xml where the D,M & Y are the date that it was done.

The database will probably be in a .gz or sql format.

Install the wp-backup plugin & set it to automatically save your database every week/day/whatever you like.

I just had daily delete one of mine yesterday, I had it back up & running in an hour or so.

Thanks
