    What do you think it'll sell for. I'm going for $6.5 million

    sex.com - For Sale

    If sex.com does change hands again, I'd be expecting $25m / $35m for sure.

    Watch this space...

    Seems pricey in this climate. We shall see. I'd of course like it to break the record though. Anything to help people realise the potential and value of domains is a good thing!

    Going to disagree with you on this one BG, but happy to stand corrected next week if I am wrong. There is a lot more free porn on the internet these days, via the tube type sites, compared to the last time it was up for sale. Can't see it breaking the record.

    <Gary Kremen originally registered the domain name>

    What was he doing in 1994 when he registered sex.com. In 1994 I remember we only had a university able to connect online. I am sure he had got a direct internet connection with Netsol with a less than 1 ms latency :D

    I reckon around the same price as porn.com so $9.5m.

    - as jwm said, lots of free porn these days
    - it's just a landing page not a developed site
    - it's a foreclosure sale
    - Google Trends shows search for 'sex' in decline over last 2yrs particularly in USA

    Having said that, as with any auction, you only need two people to want it really badly and who knows where the price could go. :)

    Sure, I am not a big gambler so how about loser donates £20 to Simon (Deconstruction) http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/general-board/65224-challange-me.html

    So which number are we using for the record?

    public sales record - $10m for Fund.com
    public auction record - $9.5m for Porn.com
    Unconfirmed previous sales value for sex.com - $14m

    sex.com

    Donating £20 to Simon is the perfect, good idea.

    It's all fun and games and money goes towards a good course so i'll let you decide which figure to use, damn I'm such a nice guy, lol.

    Take care,
    Barry

    I don't think it will break $5.1 million myself. £20 to Simon if it does.

    I'm saying $5m tops. Will donate £20 to deconstruction/simon if I'm wrong. :)

    Sex.com may not be auctioned after all

    Why do I get the feeling the only winners here will be the lawyers...
